Opening Friday, article from 225 Dine.

I'm excited to have this place on my daily commute home.

Is this the same vendor that has the setup at Thursday's Farmer's Market at Pennington Biomedical?

Not sure... I know he's always out at the Saturday farmer's market downtown, so I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Pretty pumped about this. Should be able to get cuts and stuff you hardly can find at grocery stores, such as Alexander's, rouses and Whole Foods.

Not sure if they're farming beef. Right now they only offer pork and chicken at the market.

I've picked up their chicken before at the Saturday Farmer's Market. So fresh.. It was processed the day before. Gumbo pots and over South BR will be happy.

The article also said they would have beef and turkey... not sure if they are farming themselves or locally sourcing.

More than likely sourcing rather than growing. From what they claim in acreage,it'd be hard to raise and finish enough cattle to supply a butcher shop year round.

I know some of the other popular "local" farms have had to find other sources to keep a continuous supply.

Just being able to get good chicken and turkey would be huge

Galen raises beef and turkey himself along with the chicken and pork. I've been told that he has been hoarding the beef for the store to open and his turkeys get to harvest age right around thanksgiving.

Hard to say...shite's pretty damn expensive, depending on what you put in it.

Fired up about this. We buy something from Galen nearly every Saturday at Redstick Farmer's Market. The belly loin a couple weeks ago was

Really excited to see what Jordan Ramirez comes up with for lunch and dinner sandwiches and such over there. I've been using his Southern Wild hot sauce on nearly everything lately.

Will they be serving lunch/dinner starting Friday? If not, when does that start?

No, I think that's Cutrer's Meat Market, also out of Kentwood. I've always found their prices reasonable. Never been to the Saturday Farmer's Market, so I don't know much about Iverstine's products.
