I'll be in NO this weekend and on Sunday I plan on hitting up Butcher for lunch and am determined to take some edible gems home with me from their deli. What are the "shouldn't miss / ya gotta try it" items that I should bring home?

Have you tried their ginger cookie? Best I've ever had.

Also, to OP, the fennel salami is awesome.

If you like hanger steak, Butcher is a reliable place to find said cut. I like the merguez and chorizo, too.

I love the pickles. I also love the sweet potato habanero sauce and keep several bottles on hand. I gave them as stocking stuffers to some of my staff. I like the hot sauce also. These are my favorites.

Agree on the choc chip cookies. I also grab some bags of the chips for munching.

I did not like the andouille at all. It had a strange flavor that I didn't care for. I don't care for the boudin either. I got a pack of some seasoned pork chops or veal chops. Can't remember which, but whatever it was, it was good. I don't think I've bought any of the other deli meats.

Duck confit leg quarter.

Make a riff on Bayona duck PB&J. Make a cucumber slaw- julienne cucumber and red onion, toss with rice vinegar and a little sugar.

Crisp up duck in frying pan, debone. Toast bread, crunchy PB on one slice, pepper jelly on other, add duck and some skin, top with slaw.

If they have the smoked bologna get it. The pastrami was not great but tasso was good. They have a chocolate/toffee brownie at the counter that is orgasmic. $5 but it's worth it

yea the boudin sucks. Honestly I think the meat case if just a novelty item mainly for decoration. Maybe not what you expect if you've never been.

I like to put hog head or turkey cheese on a hot drop biscuit fresh out the oven.,..... That's money in the bank.
