We have reservations at both tonight.....which one should we keep? We are only about 5 blocks away from Herbsaint and Clancy's looks like quite the journey uptown. Is the food better at one or the other or is it a win win no matter what I decide?

Can't go wrong with either.

Herbsaint has better food and clancys has better service/environment.

That's been my experience.

Service maybe (although likely only if you are a "regular" like glass), but that nasty rec room carpet for a better "environment"? Come on.

Both are great. You are close to Herbsaint. Done deal.

I wasn't really thinking decor.

Herbsaint service seems mechanical to me. It's fine service, but it feels like there's a script that's being given to to the staff.

I've always felt the service at clancys was a bit more organic, like the house manager gave the staff more room to breathe and engage with the customers. I also find them more attentive to drinks and clearing dishes.

I like both places and the quality of food seems a bit better at herbsaint. More experimentation with tastes. But It's like the staff always has this expectation that you are supposed to compliment it.

Clancys just delivers what's on the menu but is more aware of the way the food interacts with the customers. Like my wife got a heavy soup once and the waiter brought her a fork to go with her spoon, just more perceptive. their staff seem less stressed.

I sent some family members to clancy's the week before last and they were upset with me. It's been a while since I went but they didn't like it that much. They are the bougie arm of my family, so I thought it was right up their alley.

They are both great. I would give a slight nod to Clancy's but it is close enough that I would let the convenience factor come in to play and go to Herbsaint.

I'm a huge fan of proximity, but I think I'd still go with Clancys, ESP if you've never been. Good service, impressive bourbon list, and great food. I will say, I've been to Herbsaint twice, and wasn't impressed (maybe just didn't order well)

Either way can't go wrong - ENJOY!

Herbsaint is consideribly more consistant and creative. Clancy's is nice, but it's a regulars joint(and if you're asking...you're not one).

It's also a pretty dated menu.

I'm a big Clancy's fan, but I was not very impressed on a recent visit. It's dated both in appearance/decor, as well as the menu. Food was pretty weak the night I was there but probably because I ordered wrong: soft shell special was a puny fried soft shell with nothing notable on the plate. My DC got a different special which was really good.

Oh I was sitting upstairs which does not help with the atmosphere.

Herbsaint is much more hip and cool. Way more up to date. Loud.

I vote Herbsaint.

Tried Clancy's for the first time a few months ago. Food was good, service not so good. While the decor was not my style, it wouldn't keep me from going back.

Not going back because of the service. If I lived in the area I might become a regular in hopes their service would improve.

Too many great places to eat that are closer to where we stay (in the Quarter).

it's perplexing how well thought of clancy's is, yet they cannot offer consistent service to both regulars and nonregulars

I got good service there and I'm as red neck as any one they've ever let through the front door.

Herbsaint. I get why people live Clancy's but it doesnt move my needle from a cooking side. Have always found the food very bland. But its a good spot to have a martini and a fried oysters with brie.
