Because they keep showing the same places. How many times have we seen these places on a food/travel show ? It must be getting ratings if they keep airing it in prime spots.
Don't get me wrong I thought the show was good and put the city in a good light, but the dishes they highlighted have been over done IMO.

There are a bunch of the mid range priced restaurants in N.O. that kick arse. You would probably like them.

But the show wasn't tired, neither were the businesses it showcased, and every swinging dick who scratches a check out of Greater New Orleans better hope like hell the sales job he gave (as others do too) draws in the masses. Your damn livelihoods depend on it.

bullshite Antoine's isn't tired.
As for the show, it didn't draw me in but I don't have a problem with them highlighting well-known places. I agree the average American is unaware of them. I just feel bad for the ones who go to Antoine's expecting something fabulous.

The Oysters Rock at Antoine's was the focus of that segment. I'll go there to eat a serving myself one day.

If you must go(and excuse my patronizing if you're familiar), for best service and quality do not sit in the front dining room by the door and try to go at night not during lunch hours.

I don't know that I'd do a dinner there. But tasting the original recipe and sipping a sipping a cocktail or two is an appealing lunch to me.

Nice show. I don't care for Antoine's much anymore bc the last few experiences were not up to par. I do love the oysters rock, though.
I love Commander's, but not the "stew". Just not my style.
I love beignets. I will always love them. I don't care if people think they're tired or touristy. I enjoy every single bite. Just can't eat a whole order anymore. I want one now.

This beat the hell out of that drinks show that said 1/8 of people in New Orleans practice voodoo, and it was also ahead of the cookoff show from a few months ago. Not Bourdain, but who is? I thought they did a decent job for a show of this type.

Just go sit at the Hermes bar. Order some cocktails, potatoes, and rock. You would have to be a real negative Nancy to not enjoy it.

po boys at Johnny's muffulettas at Central gumbo at Commander's bananas foster at Palace Cafe Oysters Rockefeller at Antoine's beignets at Cafe du Monde In other words: nothing you haven't seen before.

And this is a big plus. It could have been stock footage of someone getting the shite beat out of them on Bourbon, a Mardi GRAS Shooting in front of a Popeyes, NOPD looting a Wal Mart or a roof blown off the Superdome full of Democrats.
And if he would have gone to Clancy's it would immediately be turned into a tourist trap on this board and all would claim how much it blows.
It was positive advertisement for the City and appropriate for the structure of the show. People should be happy these shows come to town.

Agreed.. Lots of people from out of town who will be coming for Jazz Fest or whatever occasion, want to get a refresher on what to try out and it's very nostalgic for people who've been and enjoyed themselves. It's good PR for the city.
