From what I hear, he's a decent lawyer; just doesn't have much experience as a defense attorney. Not to mention, he didn't have much to work with to begin with.

He made a fool of himself when he started grasping for strings and trying to blame the NOPD, etc.

ETA: The other brother has a public defender that's probably more capable.

This is great news.

Sorry all of you had to go through all of that horror.

A friend of mine was murdered in BR and he was alone when it happened. The bad side of this is there were no witnesses (except the deceased and the gunman, if he acted alone.) The gunman probably will never get apprehended or convicted.

So did the guy pull the trigger before or after you told him to go ahead and kill you?

I told them to kill me because I wasn't opening the door for them. He put the gun to my head and pulled the trigger after they kicked in the door and my friend got out the window.

I'd also throw in that I "mouthed" him a kiss right before he did it, but I didn't think the jury would like that all too much.

Pretty much. The way I looked at it; if I'm going out, I'm going out like a man.

Just reading through, did they live in your neighborhood at the time? Or did they just find a random house.

I know the victim's family and remember when this happened. So very sad and senseless. Hang in there.

They lived nowhere near us, in Algiers; we were in Gentilly. They were active in that area though, I can't go into specifics with a trial still pending.

Well that is an insane story man. Makes me wonder about my own house's security.

I haven't been down that way in a long time so I don't know what the area looks like. This was over five years ago so things may have changed some - for better or for worse.

Cork, it's good to see you. I have often wondered how you've been doing. I have no doubt that you will come out of this a better man. God Bless.
