Except that there were six of them, they broke down the door, shot (or tried to shoot) everyone in the house and only stole a cell phone? Does that sound random to you?

Do you know how much weed was found in the house? No you don't.

It was 13 fricking grams, is that sufficient motive to do what they did? I don't fricking think so.

Cork:
First of all, I'm happy you were fortunate enough to survive being shot and were able to testify against one of the people who murdered your friend. Very possibly, that conviction doesn't happen without your testimony.
Secondly, I had no idea there was ANY weed in the house until I read the NOLA.com you linked earlier this week.

I've never blamed you and the other victims for what happened to y'all. People like the Lee brothers are opportunists, but generally, they select their targets for a reason. In your case, perhaps the nice cars at the house got their attention. I have no idea...

My point was that, in my opinion, it's highly unlikely that these six characters just happened to be driving through your neighborhood in the middle of the night, in the middle of the week, and decided, "That house!" I think the house was targeted, perhaps for completely misguided reasons, but targeted, nevertheless.

I wish you the best and did not mean to upset you. I hope the brother pleas out, so you and your friends are able to avoid another trial.

Dig that ditch deeper dude. A few nice cars, fridge full of booze. House full of nice furniture doesn't condemn you to murder and armed attempted murder. If so I'm in trouble.

I remember you prior to this and the stories and (don't take this the wrong way) you were a bit of a screw up/screw around weren't you? Now you seem to have your shite together and are doing well. I am sure Chad is more than proud of you turning things around like you have.

I still think they were targeted as well.

Or it could have been a crime of opportunity like the Metairie murders last month. They were out and about, up to no good and see the lights are on and everybody's home.

Either way, it was a terrible thing to have happened and 5 years is too long for this kinda stuff to get resolved.

Imo, they should put that motherfricker in a room. First, push him against a wall and put a gun, that is jammed, to his head and pull the trigger. Then make him stand in the middle of the room and shoot at him.

But he doesn't get to survive it.

Cork, I never read your original threads about this on here, but I am glad that justice has been served.

I hope they have the Arian nation in that prison these assess are heading to. Life without parole seems too easy.

Have I made mistakes in my life? Of course, who hasn't? Are there things I did in my past that I regret? 100%.

Did I ever do anything to hurt someone, other than what I did to myself and the pain I caused my family? No. Have I ever stolen? No. Have I ever fricked anyone over? No.

I've had problems with drugs, I went to rehab when I was 20 and did well for a long time. After I got shot, I picked up my opiate addiction where it left off, because I now had access to any painkillers I wanted; and I abused that. After awhile I took a good look at myself and said, "You know, Chad wouldn't want me to live like this. I'm alive today for a reason and I feel like he sacrificed his life to save mine; and I need to change."

That's when I moved to Midland and went to work in the oilfield. I kicked cold turkey, working 16 hours a day, sometimes as much as 48 hours at a time; doing hardcore manual labor. I made a name for myself, made supervisor in 3 months, and watched a company of 6 guys become 60. I feel like I'd found my calling, and I've since traveled the world working in the oilfield; but I think those first 4-5 months made a boy into a man, and I've never looked back.

I could have easily laid up on the couch, eating pills and collecting welfare for the rest of my life, but that's not me and not what I wanted to do; so I did something about it. Now I have a damn good girlfriend who I plan to make my wife in the very near future, I don't worry about money, and I don't have to worry about if I'm going to be able to find the drugs I need to make it through the day. My life is completely different than it once was, and I've never been happier. The only complaint I have is that right as I settle down, the oilfield went to shite and I've been having to move all over to find work. I know I'll make it through it, but I really wish the oilfield would come back. I pretty much had to rewind my career to when I first started, but I've got to make a paycheck.
