So, since the answer to that question relative to >20wks EGA is unquestionably "yes", what was his point?

My apologies. I knew he was not DS, but I was unaware that he was normal at birth.

I take Dawkins' statement more generally and not specific to DS. I'm sure he would be OK for aborting any baby with any abnormality.

I want to know what is so magic about the door through which "fetuses" become "babies" that on one side they can't feel pain or suffer and on the other side they can.

Yes, most "fetuses" show signs even earlier of feeling pain. And again, that's a little dishonest. Many humans have been killed without suffering. It doesn't make it okay.

And I helped out with the Alabama Angels pageant a few weeks ago. Richard Dawkins can go DIAF

Maybe I'm confused by the intent of this question, but I read this to mean he believes it to be more humane to abort the down's baby because of all the suffering the baby will face in his/her lifetime. The short-term suffering of aborting the baby is small in comparison to this hypothetical situation we all automatically assume will come to fruition.

To that end I ask: Are there people on this earth who can't suffer? Wouldn't this threshold make the murder of anyone acceptable because we will all almost certainly suffer greater ills by the time our lives are over?

I think we should abort Richard Dawkins.

If you've ever been around a Down's kid, you'd know that they often represent the best of humanity.

Confirmation that Dawkins is little more than an arrogant prick.

Good example of how often arrogance is confused with intelligence.

Agree 100%...I've worked with many of them in the past, and they are some of the best people to be around. They also never seem to forget a face, and will always come tell you hi when they see you.

100% agree.
Love is dying.

ETA: it can't die, but not for lack of the human race trying to kill it

There was a female poster on this site that said she would abort any baby that had any disability.

These people disgust me. I'm sure I'd enjoy the company of Tim in another poster's link more than that bitch or RD.

The key problem is the general idea of, "I can't bring somebody into such suffering" when in reality, they're already here.

This man fancies himself the leader of the enlightened atheists, but he has lost his moral compass and even his basic sense of human decency. Its sad that there are those who think in those terms..... Taking this a step further one can forsee his ilk seeking to advocate some sort of genetic planning, eliminating the undesirable elements before birth by predictive analysis. Perhaps even seeking to eliminate the old, infirm or disabled by viewing their suffering as something that should not be permitted to exist.

You want you want you want you want

At least you wouldn't be confused about why you were aborting the baby. It would be to save yourself the suffering you imagine having such a child to be.
