Hole in the wall places you frequent, that most never heard of.

I go to Shish-ka-Bob house in Kenner and Than Truoc Bistro each every other week, maybe more.
I have had La Professora a few times on Glass's recommendation.
All in Strip malls.
A lot of good places can be tucked into strip malls, and small suburban developments.
I remember being in Central Ohio, in a BFE and getting some great greek.
Another good place people should try is Taqueria Chilangos on Roosevelt near the Home Depot.
Though the Taqueria next to Angelo Brocata I tried most recently and did not like it at all.

Italian place in missouri city called Molto Bene. Narrow place in a strip mall but great food and really nice decor. Welcoming place. Not busy the times we've been but hopefully it makes it.

Place is awesome.
All the places you mentioned I know about too. I don't think I could list one somebody here hasn't been too, but I'll try.
Blue Oak
12 Mile Limit
I'm also headed to a Cuban/Latino place right now that might be a spot not many now about. It's in kennerbrah.

Well, I used to consider Hawk's in Rayne to be a place only for those "in the know." However, due to the progression of the internet, now it seems like everyone knows about.
Another place is The Crab Trap in the Frenier area of LaPlace. It also has become more well-known in recent years.
In Baton Rouge, Dorothy's comes to mind. I also like Hilltop Inn in Head of Island, which is definitely off the beaten path.
Lorman Country Store on Hwy.61 in Lorman, MS comes to mind.

Saddest changing of hands of a place in history.
Parenton's comes to mind.

In the Kenner vein. I use to frequent the Imperial Garden on Williams near W. Esplanade. Haven't been in years but that place was the shite.

My choice in Kenner would be Little Chinatown in the old Pizza Hut on Williams

I would go more often if they could serve me a bowl of pho or banh mi in less than an hour and a half.

If you are a ravenous carnivore and in Tampa you owe it to yourself to go to El Puerto in Ybor. A house turned into a restaurant, the Argentine food there is amazing.

For Viet food, I would add Frosty's.
