180,000 is our absolute ceiling. Any suggestions on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Can you get into Oak Hills for 180k? What about the neighborhood right behind Highland Park (smaller, older homes, but great location).

Not Oak Hills, possibly Iberville Terrace.

$180k will get you a pretty nice 3br/2 ba here: LINK

Its about 1 mile past the EBR/Iberville parish line near U club on Hwy 30.

Greenbrier Hollow - right across Perkins Road from Perkins Rowe. Small community, conveniently located.

Tell us more ab out you style of living. Can you sacrifice size for convenience? Does traffic/commute bother you? Would you rather have a large yard or a small one? Where do you work?

Not for a 2/1, 2/1.5, or a 3/1 on a 40-50 foot lot line.

Wife, baby, big dog, and myself. I really dont care to much about commute. Ill be working in and around the Baton Rouge area. Aiming for a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a decent but not huge yard.

Azalea Lakes isn't too bad. If you don't mind a commute, I'm sure you could find something nice in the Prairieville area.

You sound like a suburban dude. All neighborhoods mentioned above in Highland road Perkins area should suit you as well as Prairieville. Also, there are some smaller subdivisions off Jefferson in your price range that re centrally located.

If you are travelling into BR daily from the SE (or suburbs in general), the traffic is gonna blow.

This. There's only one house in there for sale right now for $250k but I have a friend that recently bought a house in there around your price range. Not huge but a good sized 3 BR, 2 Bath with a pretty decent sized back yard and a shed.

ETA: Its a great location. Right across from Perkins Rowe. Easy access to Interstate.

180k is gonna be tough for the size you are looking for... I'd go south if i was you... like dutchtown area.. not a bad drive and the schools are better

That's debatable.
