re: What time will you "shut it down" today and start pre-gaming for tonight?

I "shut it down" last Friday. I've been "working" all week, but my productivity has SUCKED.

FYI, that was on a play that was WAY over his head that he almost got to. Would have been an incredible catch. If there's one thing he does REALLY well, it's play the field.
Carry on, though. I get what you guys are doing and honestly, I respect it. We'd be doing the same, just on a MUCH smaller scale!

Those brackets are likely going to get screwed up by Andrea today.

I've seen both pitch multiple times.
Gray throws harder and has a sharper slider than Stanek. I've also see Stanek get roughed up and lose his head, which I've never seen Gray do.
On the other hand, Stanek changes speeds a bit better than Gray. He does a better job at keeping hitters off balance.
Toughest thing about Gray is his arm slot is pretty similar on all of his pitches. Batters have a tough time seeing the difference in the fastball and slider. When they guess right on a fastball, they can hit him. Usually, that happens early in a game before he's shown the off-speed a bunch. Once he has shown the slider and hitters can't guess as much, he's been tough as nails.

If you think that was trolling, you might not enjoy your stay here. That was just a little back and forth.
Nobody said Nola was better than Gray, we just simply pointed out that he isn't "head and shoulders better" than Nola and backed it up with the statistics.
I can deal with getting trolled by an opponent on their board, the same way I can deal with getting heckled to death in an opponent's venue. There was some ridiculous (and still is - one of your guys can't figure out that Austin Nola's not pitching for you) stuff being thrown around right off the bat and it was annoying.

Are your admins always that uptight? There were several of us posting in the baseball thread that were banned for no apparent reason and I just wondered if they were purging all the LSU fans.
Sure, there was banter going back and forth but it was nothing outrageous. I was enjoying going back and forth about Nola and Gray, then boom!
They unfortunately booted a lot to get rid of a couple. No, it's usually a pretty open forum, but they don't allow trolling on the sports boards (our off-topic boards are pretty fun) and there were a TON of trolls (and still are) coming over. I left for a few hours because all we heard was how bad we were going to get our arse kicked and how much better Nola is than Gray. Granted, I don't think we'll win, but I think we've got a fighter's chance. We will see.

+5,000
Might be worth a few bucks if you're a fan.
As unpredictable as college baseball has been, putting $20 to win $1000 would be worth it. I wonder what Arizona was last year coming in? +5000 is a big long shot, which none of these 16 teams is a big long shot. There are no Stony Brook's in this field.

Yes.

quote:EXACTLY what I thought when I read that. Gee, Josh, big freaking surprise that you think OU is just "average".
“I don’t love their offense, I wasn’t the least bit worried or intimidated by them. They really lack lefthanded hitting too, they’re very righthanded. You get a righty going with a good slider, seven of your nine hitters are righthanded, that can be some quick innings. OU will bunt the ball a little bit, move the ball, but nothing that really gives you trouble. They’re not real short-game-oriented like a Vanderbilt or a Louisville. They’re not great on defense. Look at Mayfield, I bet there’s 20-plus errors on him (actually 22), and Garrett Carey’s got double-digit errors at third (14). They’re just an average team on defense, they’re nothing special."
It was nice of former Vandy Assistant Coach and current Oklahoma State Head Coach Josh Holliday to make an appearance.

You would really like CSF. They are +700. Not bad value there.
That's where I'd go.
What's OU? Just curious. With two really good pitchers, you never know. If the bats get hot, OU's a dangerous team. After last weekend's results, though, I'd pretty much rather be in any other super regional (sans Fullerton) this weekend. Bad matchup for us, I think.

No doubt, Oklahoma is not a great team. They had a mediocre Big 12 season, and the Big 12 had a down year. Oklahoma lost a ton of series.
However, when you have one of the top pitchers in college baseball, you have a chance in a three game series. In a seven game series, you'd pick LSU to prevail everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. But in a short, one weekend series, if Gray can win his game Oklahoma will have a chance.
This is truth.
Bottom line: LSU is a better all-around team than OU. What I've said all year, though, is that if we could get through the regionals, we'd have a shot at Omaha because of our starting pitching. Are we favored? No. But there's a reason we're playing prime time all weekend, and it's not because ESPN thinks the series is going to be a blow out.
That said, if it's a blow out, that's not good news for OU at all.

ou will not score on nola
First of all, he's consistently 98-99 and touches 100 or 101 regularly.
Second of all, I think the last part of your post may be extremely accurate.
Bottom line for OU, even if OU wins Friday night, they need to win Saturday, too. Sunday will not be a good pitching matchup.

The SEC, Pac-12, and ACC will ALWAYS dominate the sport. The rest will be a distant 4th
Big 12 begs to differ.
As for coverage of the sport, it's VERY tough to get advertising to cover costs. I know first hand.
Also, Kendall does a good job of covering the sport because he know has money behind him, but he started as an independent guy, too. Some of the independent sites do a really good job with it. Some don't.

This. I've seen it posted that Gray didn't beat anyone good, but he and Nola have the exact same record and exact same stats, essentially, against super regional teams.
re: Where the Sooner fans at?

Here.
I'm one of the 1000 at most of the games. OU fans, for some reason, just don't support much of anything except football.
That said, I'm a baseball fan, love baseball and if I weren't going to Omaha next week (win or lose) then I'd be in Baton Rouge this weekend.
Should be a fun series.
