Baseball is a game of % and he has a better chance putting the ball in play than riding the pine I dont think he will be on the bench anytime in the near future.

Actually, the opposite is true. Getting walks is a pretty consistent skill. A guy who walks a lot one year will likely walk a lot next year. It is a demonstrable repeatable skill. Even more than batting average, which fluctuates wildly. Why? Because a hitter has very little control whether a batted ball that is not a home run is a hit or an out (he has some, but not a lot). The #1 driver of a high BA is strikeouts. A guy with a low strikeout total puts a lot of balls in plays, and thus, is more likely to have a high BA. Looking at Jones.... look! Low strikeouts!
