Didn't want to start a new thread (seeing how this isn't my board), but I think Clemson keeps it close, but LSU wins:
LSU 23
Clemson 19
Here's how I got there - Prediction

Here's how Clemson can win.......
Boyd needs time in the pocket, and the WRs need to get our DBs turned around. Not impossible but highly unlikely.
Clemson has to stop our run game cold, then it just depends on if our passing game is off or on. If were executing well in the passing game, there may not be anything Clemson can do.
I agree we need to get you guys in passing situations and hope for the best. Scoring a few points early, or easily, would help as well.

You missed one Lsu defensive line over your online. Johnny football had one bad game all year and was not against bama . We have two first round picks at defensive end. Good luck throwing the ball at all. I have you for four picks. We also have an all American at safety and pro caliber corners. Again if you get less than four picks you have done better than their heisman trophy winner. They are probably the best defense in the country talent wise bar none.
I actually mentioned in my disadvantage segment that it came down to the two line of scrimmages. I went with the Clemson Dline vs LSU Oline since Clemson will do anything and everything they can to neutralize Mingo and Montgomery.
And because of your secondary's physicalness, I went with the Clemson backs vs LSU linebackers.
Good luck Monday night!

Look harder. LSU beat Clemson twice, in 1958 and in 1996.
Meant in the last 50 years. I can't speak to the quality of our '58 team.

if you can keep up the first quarter ill be suprised. if you arent tired by the third qtr ill be suprised. when was the last time you all wona bowl game? - wait- dont anwser that.
I think you'll be surprised. We may not win and we'll probably be tired, but I think it will be close.

Here's to making it 20-1-0 for LSU vs the ACC all-time! It's been 57 years since LSU lost to Maryland in 1955, the only loss ever to an ACC team.
That's actually quite an amazing stat - wish we could say the same. I only see 1 game against Clemson, none against FSU, 1 against VT, & 1 against Miami, and only the VT win was against a quality opponent (we treat our Tommy West years like you guys treat your Hallman & DiNardo).

Thanks! And don't worry about passing out near the Dome (Little Fives may be a different story) - we'll treat you much better.

good luck getting anything but smack on this board. most who inhabit TD think we should curb stomp every opponent and if we don't win by 6 (td's, that is) our coaches suck or our kids are bums. I know Clemson is a fine school and Debo has recruited well and you have some solid skill players who pose real threats....but the game will be won in the trenches and that is where we normally excel. if we execute you are in trouble....if we don't (which we haven't on occasion) it will be very interesting. the '12 version of LSU football has been, frankly, inconsistent and it's been a 'box of chocolates' year.
Thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to the game (hopefully all of it). Maybe we can get the Auburn or Towson version Monday night...

Thetigerswag,
This is the WORST board in college sports to come have an intelligent conversation.
That being said, I expect that our defensive gameplan will be something like the last 3 quarters of aTm game. My true concern on defense is our young db's.
Clemson can prepare for physical play by hitting each other hard, but that will not help. We didn't just beat USCe, we physically pounded them and gained twice as many yards. Mistakes kept them in the game. I can spend a month sparring with the baddest dude at the local gym, but that doesn't mean I am ready for Tyson's uppercut. That is what will hit home in the second half Monday night.
Good luck! I expect your WR's will make some plays against our DBs.
Thanks for the kind words - and advice. In putting the article together, I was torn between the LBs and DBs. Went the LB route because of their youth and the physicalness of the DBs.
I too am concerned about the physical nature of you guys. How we respond to that will tell the tale...

Stay the Course
what the frick does this mean?
This is more of a Clemson issue as in big games, we've been prone to abandoning things that work in favor of the homerun. It has resulted in a string of 3 and outs our defense couldn't cover.

If you're looking for a Clemson advantage, their biggest advantage is the WR's over our DB's. Our key to controlling that is making sure Boyd is very uncomfortable.
You'll be very surprised at how good and fast our LB's are other than Minter. They were the rock of our defense this year.
I'll give you that and after hearing you guys speak of your linebackers, maybe I've focused too much on their age and not enough on other things.
Even though your secondary has been burned some, they are still physical, which can disrupt the timing of our passing game.

No. But, no one can. You guys will have a lot of success with that. Where LSU will beat you is that one pass will be intercepted after being deflected at the LOS and another after bouncing off a receiver's hands. Also, your QB will fumble once when sacked. At the end of the game you'll say, "We owned LSU. I can't believe we lost by ten points. If it wasn't for those three turnovers, that big kick return, and those missed tackles, we'd have won easily." And we'll say, "Dude, Clemson is the eighth team in the last two years to say this same stuff."
I think this is a legitimate concern. Both of your DE's are big and good at tipping passes. Hopefully there are some throwing lanes in the middle or through designed pocket movement.

That's a lot of advantages for a Clemson defense that was piss poor all season. How and the hell does this guy think Clemson LBs are better than LSU RBs, when y'all are giving up over 4 ypc on the ground.
I don't know that I ever mentioned any advantages for the Clemson defense. And I never said the Clemson linebackers were better than the LSU RB's. If anything, that is our biggest fear - that we can't get off the field and eventually fold.

Can Clemson handle Mingo and Montgomery? Quick answer...no
I 100% agree - and Clemson will do anything and everything they can to minimize their impact, including max protect, screens, draws, jet sweeps, and read-option with them being the read.
That will be our biggest question mark

We have one of the best LB corps in the nation, and we're getting a starter back for the bowl.
You guys have no chance.
I'll give you guys Minter, but can they handle the backs & ends coming out of the backfield? Can they handle the crossing routes of the receivers?
I'm by no means an expert on LSU, but that looks like an area Clemson can take advantage of.
