Why would a team give Jimbo Fisher a 75 mil buyout without one conference title ?

Same reason you guys are still arguing with Kelly. Scott Woodward.

Penn state made the semi finals last year You can name 9 SEC schools you would take over them

You frickwads went 7-5 this year and haven't sniffed the playoffs since Burrow left, but still think you're the best job on earth

Penn State won 13 games last year. To those of us who are of a certain age, Penn State is still an elite job.

Serious question, what's elite about it? Their history is almost exclusively tied to one guy who coached there for like 4 decades, and his legacy is inextricably linked to one of the most, if not THE most, disturbing scandals in CFB history. You literally can't mention paterno without somebody immediately bringing up pedo enablement. It's that bad.

Budget is middle of the pack for SEC and Big Ten. Recruiting grounds are nothing special.

It's a solid job but I see no reason to put it higher than 15 or so.

What has that fat frick done that Franklin didn't?

SEC is a harder conference so probably lost more games against top 5 teams?
Jury is still out on DeBoer at Alabama, but he's gotten farther in the playoffs than lane has.

Kentucky needs to dump Stoops, but seems like waiting a year would be smart. So many schools are coach shopping this year that they're gonna end up raiding a d2 school or a 0.500 mid major.

This logic reminds me of Ron Burgundy when they're ranting about a woman joining the news team.

"I hear the bears can smell their periods."
"Well now you're putting the whole news team at risk."

Whichever school is writing me the biggest guaranteed check regardless of performance is where I'm going. LSU is the only school dumb enough to consistently do so.

Now wait just a got damn second. We still hold the title for largest HC buyout ever. Not LSU. Us.
You're right that he'd have a bigger NIL war chest at Florida, which is an advantage. My only point is that the game has changed enough that he can now win it all at Ole Miss without needing an absolute miracle. If he does his job extremely well and nails his NIL poaching picks, he can win it where he is.

That probably wasn't the case, say, 15 years ago.
The blue bloods have more money and therefore more margin for error, but their ability to stack NFL talent 2-3 deep with no interference is gone. Lane can go to the 5 star 3rd stringer who put up disappointing stats as a fish and say "your coach is misusing you, come play for me. And BTW, here's a much better NIL package."

That pitch probably works 75%+ of the time.
Call me crazy, but I think Ole Miss can win a title. NIL and the portal changed everything. Remember 15-20 years when... I think it was Matt Cassel sat on the USC bench for 3 years, started a few games as a senior after the starter went down, and then got drafted? Those days are over. Now somebody will swoop in, offer that talented backup NIL money, and boom, he's gone.

The formula for the second tier schools isn't hard to figure out: Identify the right players wasting away on somebody else's bench, spend your money intelligently, coach up your guys, and a title is in reach. The total scrubs can't afford this, but a school like Ole Miss? Definitely.

I don't follow Texas football, so I don't know any of the details, but why would you want to fire a coach who made the playoffs + finished in the top 5 in back to back years? If you believed the preseason #1 and heisman shoe-in hype that's on you. Everybody knows you don't turn over your entire OL without MAJOR hiccups on offense (something the sports media ignored for views).

As an A&M fan, I'd love to see you all fire him aa I think there's an 80-90% chance you end up with somebody worse.
