Give them a big hug when you want to do anything but... lol. Not saying teenage problems are solved with hugs, but sometimes they are so inside their own head that a simple gesture will put them back in the real world.
Thank you for your condolences.

"I'm sorry" is definitely adequate. Thank you to you and the poster above.
No one knows what to say, and a lot of people choose to keep quiet. That's just fine, we dealt with plenty of well- meaning over-sharers. People say the dumbest things sometimes, but there is no appropriate or normal reaction to suicide. We took nothing personal and appreciated the effort. Hell, I'm never at a loss for words, and even I couldn't stand up front and read more than a few sentences. I put a bunch of pictures together and let them tell the story of my son's life. It's cliché but he will always be more than how he died.

Lost my teenage son to suicide a few years ago. Prayers to the family and responders.

You are absolutely right. Sometimes my grief takes hold and I just don't care. Thanks for the yank back to reality.

re: Roux with a gluten free substitute?
Posted by coastiewife77 on 9/15/14 at 10:30 pm to Me4Heisman
I like your idea, but I like doing it the traditional way if I can :)
I'm embarrassed that I never had gumbo before being diagnosed with celiac. Or a po boy, muffuletta, etc. Mom was a crazy Yankee that forbid good southern food. I didn't have biscuits and gravy until I was in my 20s. :wah:
I'll try a couple different rouxs and report back. So far I will try oat flour, millet flour, and every variation of rice flour lol.

Interesting, I have millet flour in my cabinet. Will try and report back!

I guess it depends on the oats. I've never tried oat flour, I'll give it a shot. I know Bobs Red Mill has GF oats, I might try to make oat flour out of their oats. Thank you.

Roux with a gluten free substitute?

I'm wondering if anyone here has experimented with a gluten free roux. I have Celiac disease (for real) and am looking to make gumbo for the UF/LSU game.
I'm not gluten free by choice. I miss bread and all the other goodies so much. :wah:

I kinda liked it :shrug; I'll tune in next week. It reminds me of the book "On the Beach". Great book btw.
It fills the void from TWD, the only show I follow season to season. Plus my puddle pirate is gone for a bit and I don't mind watching the squids.
No offense Navy guys :usa:

I'm glad she found a good home. If I had seen her last week I would have been on my way from Pensacola to pick her up.
And whoever got her, she was spoiled before you picked her up. She's got that look

It's still coming down in buckets here and the radar shows no signs of it letting up.
All Escambia County schools are closed tomorrow. The lightning is absolutely incredible, and this is from someone who grew up in Tampa. I never saw lightning like I have the last few days. Beautiful but scary as hell.
