FIU makes a better hire than LSU

Posted by LSU13 on 11/26/16 at 8:59 am
Let that sink in for a second. Butch Davis is better and more proven Head Coach. Even Coach O would admit that.

If Miles was undefeated in first 4 games, and went 5-2 in the games O coached, he would be fired.
So 5-2 and being shut out by Bama doesn't warrant being hired.
It's not like his 6-2 record at USC was some amazing feat, as his lost by 21 to UCLA in his last game.

First, I hope Coach O proves me wrong, but I struggle with how we got to this point.
After having 2 months, we come to the conclusion that O is our 3rd best option.
I walked out of the UF game pissed off but said at least that prevents us from making the wrong coaching hire. Well I was wrong.

We may keep Aranda but it will not be because he got a raise and a promotion. Texas will offer him more than Coach's O 1 yr pay.

We may get Kiffin as OC, but there is no guarantee that Alleva and King can be given that it will happen. Don't care if Kiffin got on the phone in O's interview and told them via FaceTime. Kiffin may get a HC offer, so we made this decision without that knowledge. If we pull that hire off, don't expect success vs. Bama, when Saban has watched this guy everyday.

I am afraid that if Alleva is not fired in 90 days, the problem runs much deeper, and it is entirely possible that a pro O BOS was the source of the leak.

Lastly and this really pains me, but Tim Brando was pretty spot on. That is how screwed up we really are.

Also on Coach O, I appreciate the job he did for salvaging the season. I believe he can be a successful head coach, but never thought he was a long term option for LSU. Will admit he definitely picked up a lot of support from former players, and I was somewhat concerned Boosters and fans would sway Alleva to hire him. Thought the loss to UF ruled that out.
I don't see him staying on staff, and wish him the best in the future. He deserves a 2nd chance as a HC.
First, I don't have a "sauce", so if you are looking for that move on. This just my thoughts on the last 12 months with Alleva.
I am former walk on who was part of the program for 5 years.
Not a Miles guy, but the way we handled that last year was embarrassing. IMO, he deserved a shot with the talent coming back, but I thought Alleva screwed up by not forcing an OC change. Miles is a good coach but ultimately was too stubborn.
I also had no issue firing Miles after the Auburn loss, as it gave us a a jump start on the coaching search. IMO Jimbo has always been choice #1 (lot of support with former players) and there WAS mutual interest, but I had zero confidence in Alleva's ability to get this done.
Fast forward Jimbo plays us for more money and resources at FSU and we quickly move on to Herman (which I applaud), and looks like we will get this done quickly. Then the leak by Trace Armstrong, Herman's agent. Do we not get a signed freaking NDA that would deter this from happening? Texas didn't leak this and neither did ESPN, because they weren't in the meeting. Agent wins by leaking. This will cost us more money or he goes to UT.
I pray we get the deal done with Herman, but it will be done in spite of Alleva not because of him.
Wake up BOS and fire Alleva.

Joe Fakier, from Thibodaux passed away today after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a 3-time letterman 71-73 as a wide receiver for Coach Mac, and a member of three straight 9 win teams. Mr. Joe was a husband, father, grandfather, coach, and a tremendous person. My thoughts are with the Fakier family.

Joe Fakier beat cancer.

My favorite one was the video with SVP quotes after his visit for the Bama game. That is the one I cannot find now.

re: Lets talk about Wade Richey

Let's see if I can clear this up...

Wade came kicking wedge style with the instep of his foot. They had him roll his ankle and kick closer to the laces which is true soccer style. NOT with his toes and not straight on.
He had an absolute canon for a leg. His kickoffs constantly hit the top of the indoor building, without a doubt the strongest leg ever at LSU. Freshman year at A&M we had to kickoff from the 20 due to a penalty and he kicked it down to 3 yard line into the wind.
He was just never accurate at LSU.

Still holds the school record with a 54 yd fg vs. UK in Tiger Stadium. He kicked it over the chute where the players run out about 10 rows up. In practice, he could hit a 70 yd fg, so Dinardo had no issue trying the 61 yd. fg.

He also was a strong, power cleaning over 300.

He had a decent NFL career mostly as a kickoff specialist.

We have had for more accurate kickers since him, but none of them kicked in the NFL. Danny Boyd replaced Wade, but was not accurate either. He did kick for the Jags for one year.

Tour 18 in Flower Mound, Bridlewood in Flower Mound, and Grapevine Municipal are more economical options compared to overpriced Cowboys Club.

re: Which Ballparks Have You Been To?

I have been to all active MLB parks and the below former ones:
Old Yankee
Shea
Astrodome
Dolphins Stadium
RFK
Metrodome
Fulton County Stadium
Old Busch

Nothing better than a guys trip to a few ballparks or a trip with your dad and brother. Lots of cool memories at games.
If your Cap One card was open for more than a year longer than your other card then keep it open, and use it sparingly.
Your length of time with credit helps your score.
If not, close it and get your money back.
ED is a wonderful person and represented LSU so well after leaving the University. He was a GA for a year or so in 1999 I believe. Great guy.

Very sad. He was considered one of the good guys who did it the right way.

Heading up Thanksgiving night with my brother. I lived in Fayetteville for 2 years due to work. For those used to going to Little Rock, this will be a treat.
Nice campus, great bar scene on Dickson, and stadium is much better than the HS stadium in LR.

After the game driving straight to Norman for Bedlam on Saturday. My brother and I started attending rivalry games a few years ago.
Stanford has tiebreaker over Oregon. If Stanford beats UCLA, then Oregon does not go to PAC-12 Championship.
Therefore we need Oregon St to beat Oregon, because that might be the only game Oregon has left to lose.
LSU over Arkansas
USCw over ND
Auburn over Bama (if this doesn't happen pull GT over UGA, then UGA over Bama in SEC championship)
If Auburn wins, A&M over Mizzou, so we got to SEC Championship.
FSU over UF
Texas over Kstate
Michigan over Ohio St. (just so we don't have AP declaring OSU champs)
USCe over Clemson
Oregon St. Over Oregon
Ok. St. Over Oklahoma
Wash over Wash St.
UNT over WKU
Idaho over Utah St.
