One of my first days at orientation I managed to get lost. Cheney found me wandering the old building and gave me a quick tour of the offices. He was a kind, brilliant man.

Anthropocentrism is a rather strong bias at play here. From the house arrest of Galileo to the burning of Giordano Bruno at the stake, humanity has had a tough time accepting our relative insignificance. It is best to withhold judgement until we get a better idea of our place in the vast universe.
Cosmic background radiation exploration and the increasing precision of cosmology is helping us to make discoveries that were unimaginable even a few decades ago. Particle physics is making similar strides in our understanding of the microscopic world. Should be an interesting few decades coming up.

What's really sad is that now she only makes 77 cents for every dollar she used to make.

Thanks for posting. I had never heard about this before. Here's an interesting article about a 727 that vanished from rural Africa recently: LINK
re: How do people with mansions keep up their house?

Many wealthy, absentee owners don't care about upkeep. For them, the property is merely an analogue to the swiss bank account that they no longer keep due to onerous IRS investigations. LINK

What a wanker. The UK has gone from important to impotent in the span of a generation. Lady Thatcher is rolling in her grave.

If impressionist art is your thing, the new Barnes Foundation museum in Philadelphia is incredible. Their collection is unprecedented.

Love Gaugin and his Tahitian phase. Saw the exhibition in Cleveland a few years ago and was blown away. I am willing to speculate this painting was bought by Qatari royalty, but I'm not 100% sure.

Honestly it's been kinda mediocre. Bolton has had some good chances but has thankfully managed to blow all of them.
