All the reports were that Minter stumbled off the line and has already said he will run at the pro day, wouldn't be surprised to see him run high 4.6 low 4.7 at LSU.

#10 Jerrard Randall (hasn't seen the field)LSU
Johnny Football at #14 on that list...
Just goes to show you how wrong those ranking are and how useless they can be in the wrong hands. Randall will never see meaningfull snaps at LSU unless it's at another position, the best QB on the team started and played every game this year and will next year as well... Mett...
After next year it'll most likely be 1 of the 2 incoming freshman from this years class taking over.

Why people acting as if Miles is the wrong guy for the job? He is an excellent choice to run LSU football program and many schools wish they had him. If you want to criticize, attack his choice of OC and the fact that he needs to give total control to a guy who knows modern offensive football.
You realize his choice for OC and his being too stubborn to give up control to a guy who "know's modern football" is a DIRECT reflection of him. As the HC you're responsible for what happens in your program PERIOD...
That's like saying we shouldn't be mad when a US president picks a joke of a VP and then forces his ideas down the American peoples throat against their will ...... WAIT :banghead:

Coach Miles will fix it has he has always promptly fixed issues in the past. He is a very pro-active coach in that he sees and fixes problems before they BECOME problems

I'm saying that in recent years when playing "elite" teams with "elite" coaches, his win/lose record is taking a hit...
Are these "elite" programs figuring out Les and putting LSU at a disadvantage in these games? if you go back to the 09-10 season of the 9 loses all but 1 were to teams ranked in the top 12 when we played them, LSU scored on average 13pts per game. This is during a period of time that LSU has been considered in the top 2 or 3 talented teams in the country, does that help clear up the question?
Miles has had a reputation as being able to get his teams up for big games and having them ready to play with extra time to prepare, is that still an accurate repuation?

I know a lot of Miles supporters like to spout off about his record at LSU, I'll be the first to admit that it's impressive, but I'm looking at an alarming trend and wanted to get your opinion on it...
His "used to be perfect bowl record" is now 1-3 in the last 4 with 2 of them being embarrassing loses and the last 5 loses to teams in the top 12 at the time of the game. I understand that those 5 loses were over a 3 year period but my question is simply this... Are the elite teams/coaches figuring out Les's weaknesses and taking advantage of them to a point that LSU is now at a disadvantage when facing them?

The real question is who's to say that Brees would be as effective in a Saban run system, when clearly it's the relationship between he and Payton that makes him what he is today.. Last night is proof of that...
Saban would probably only stuck around for another year anyway but you're correct he most likely would not have ended up at Bama. I think, aside from Bame becoming dominate again, the situation worked out great for all parties involved except the Dolphins.

Seems as though these 1 possession loses have some things in common... either lack of exacution or coaches putting them in poor positions to make the correct play.. Both coaches have made poor calls that cost them games but if you line them head to head for an equal match up with equal time to prepare you see the result 1/09... It's unfortuate but true.
Yes we are a top tier program without a doubt but it seems as though we a game or 2 every year that in spite of Les not because of him. These type of thing will keep you from being a "team of the decade"

It's kinda sad that LSU caved so quick to give an extention and raise... I really don't think LSU would have lost Miles keeping both right where they were. See Les knows he's got the keys to mansion here and I just can't see him deciding to relocate to a rebuild job after being spoiled already.. He's had 2 opprotunities to do so and turned them both down because for as competitive as Les is he's not much for having to try to rebuild then compete esp at a school with very limited recruiting resources. Poor play on LSU's part good play on Miles and his agents... :geauxtigers:

these statements contradict each other
Actually they don't at all.. Krags was brought here because of his experience with QB development and creativity in the passing game and ability to call plays... Because of his illness he can't do that, it's not that he was going to completely change the offense but just use Les's offense more creatively, again he can't do that in his present role. Stud does what is ask of him by Miles, as Krags has helped Mett along it's given Less a little more confidence to open up a little more but it's still Les's offense..
There is a difference between being an innovator and creative, I hope you can see that.
Again I'm not bashing Stud, but the fact is certain coaches are limited in certain areas, he may be the best thing to coach an O-Line in the history of football but it doesn't make him a great OC ie Tedford would be an upgrade over Stud.. I'm not saying fire Stud and hire Tedford, merely stating a fact.

Oh I guess you're under the impression that I give a shite what you think???? Sorry to disappoint.
It is what it is, Les likes to to have his hands in the offense, A LOT, and guys who are installing their own system do not like that because if it fails they get the blame. If you don't think Stud is a yes man then you, my good man, are a little naive...
I'm not bashing Stud, he's doing EXACTLY what he's being asked and told to do...

True on keeping Sam but false on the TM7 comment... TM7 was, for some strange reason, the entire attitude of our defense...

Truth be told Stud was a backup OC becuase of illness to Krags... He's done a fair job but I really believe it's not so much his doing as much as that of Krags and him working with Mett and the passing game. If Krags could go full time OC I think you'd see a huge difference in our offense but he can't and Les is always going to have a guy in the OC spot that is more of a yes man than an innovator...
That being said it's working right now so go with it but for all intents and purposes Tedford would be an upgrade over Stud.

Herm Edwards may be as smart a coach as Les Miles would you agree???
This morning on Mike and Mike he was quoted as saying that as a HC or OC you have to fit the scheme to the players not the players to the scheme....
So to the original question I'll again answer NO I'm not smarter than Les when it comes to football but I'll go on record for saying that Herm Edwards is at least as smart as him and he knows that you can't keep trying to fit a square peg in a round hole...
Also Mett even kinda called out the play calling in the paper today... " We may need to have a little more variety in our play calling"
Now we really can keep going back abnd forth about stats from last year all the back to 2005 if you want but they don't mean jack shite to this years team because as this team stands TODAY the offensive scheme has got to change.

Pistol formation would work very nice for him
Pistol formation is more suited to a mobile QB, ie the reason Flynn, RP, and JJ ran it and not so much J Lee.
He needs to be in the shotgun because it's the only way he's going to pick up the backside blitz as of now. Not saying they can't work on it with him and he learn to see it coming from under center but pistol is not something I think you ever see him run here.
The obvious answer is NO to the OP....
The next obvious answer is that Les has become very predictable and opposing D-Cor are figuring out how to stop his scheme with the lose of starters due to injury and the fact that most of them have seen the exact same offense for the past 4.5 years... I agree to a large % that it has worked for the most part and hasn't had to change but once people have caught up to it and the talent level has evened out then you have to adapt... This my friend has not been Les's strong suit and if an idiot like me can see it then the best D-cor's in college football certainly can as well.

And for anyone who rolls their eyes at No. 1. Deal with it. Les is not going to come out and start throwing the ball. Just hope that we run the ball better.
I don't think anyone thinks we're about to become an air show becuase right now we can't catch the ball well enough to anyway but, Les's old scheme ain't gonna work right now for various reasons and I just pray he's not to stubborn to realize this.

We're going to have to figure out ways to get mismatches against their defense and not let them exploit our glaring weakness' on offense. This line is blocking as well as it's going to the rest of the year due to injury and players being forced out of position... That being said as these coaches get paid very well to coach they need to come up with ways to play to what strengths we do have on offense. They're not going to be able to be the power run the ball down your throat team they were even in the begining of this year because they aren't the same team. As soon as Miles realizes that and quits being so stubborn we will be much more competitive offensively... The keys of not fumbling and catching the ball are obvious but what's even more obvious is that with an injured O-line, inexperienced QB, and inconsistant production at WR that D-cor's have caught up to Les and his scheme is no longer effective.

Man I assure you that this team has some major problems that are going to make it hard the next month and sitting and saying things like "shite happens" are just another way of saying I want to be nice and say nice things about my team.
We've got major corrections to make in the production asspect of the game on offense and it's time to change our philosophy a little as well to try to find some type of balance because you see what happened the second they shut down the running game, we went stagnant on offense.. It's not being a bad fan or ignorant to see these things and express your desire for them to change because we all want LSU to win and win big but as the game evolves you better be willing to evolve with it or it will pass you by and there is nothing your winning % in the past can do about it.

So, Connor Shaw is going to lead them in and out of TS dominantly
The simple answer is NO... but the combination of Shaw, Latt(best RB in the country), and The best DE in the nation can come into Tiger stadium and beat LSU due to our problems on the O-line and our Defense wearing down due to lack of offense. I will be rooting like hell for the Tigers but unless we figure out how to stop Clowney and pick up the backside blitz then we're looking more 3 and outs and that wears your defense out. With a power running game like their's it wears your defense out quicker...
Major adjustments needed in offense production and philosophy to put us back into title talk on any level. I can tell you that #3 in the country is not the best team in the country to have to work on things against.
