Yeah my username is shite, but it was 9 years ago and I was drunk when I coined this gem. Also, I am too darn cheep for the 10$ to change it.

My wife has a job in Baton Rouge, and I have a shift job in Lafayette. So both places actually. Not ideal but better than 5 and 1/2 months of winter.

Just want to say that after 4 years in northmost Louisiana(wannabe Texas) and 5 years in West Virginia, I'm headed home.
I've tried to be an ambassador to the state, I've tried explaining the term coon arse to northerners ,and I have even tried cooking gumbo and jambalaya for the yanks, but I don't feel like you can see what South Louisiana has to offer unless it is your home.
I grew up in Iberville Parish and went to high school and college in Baton Rouge. I have spent many nights there wishing there were more to do, that it wasn't so hot, or that I wouldn't get car-jacked at the wrong Shell station, but one thing I hope everyone on here appreciates is that God has never made man as willing to help, comfort, or teach fellow man as He did a coon arse.
Long post short, I have been aching to come home since I have left, and I come home in 3 weeks, with every intention of eating, drinking, and reminiscing any chance I can get.

A gas station in McPherson Kansas. I was driving to Co. There was one rack of shirts. Most of them were wolves, and eagles, and shite. There were three shirts that just had a purple and gold lettered LSU. It was random, and I bought one.

That one pissed me off. I know ESPN hates LSU but to say a largely intact Recent 13-0 team seems ridiculous.

Thanks everyone for all advice. Years of medical training do nothing to prep you for financial planning, contracts, and business.

Eventually we will move back to La. My wife is still considering a fellowship that will add a year to training for her. It would be nice to have the umbrella of staff above me that know me and can give some early support. But the maximum would be one more year then either back to BR or NOLA.

Financial advisors?

I'm a medical resident 11 months out from graduating. My wife is the same. We have a significant amount of debt and a baby due in January, and a mortgage that is quite reasonable and affordable on a resident salary. We'll have real earning potential when we finish, and I have a financial advisor hounding around quite aggressively...emails every other week. He works with several recent grads who are now really involved with Stock markets and many other financial ventures.
I'm by nature (A poor La boy), and really conservative with money. Would you guys/girls advise getting involved with someone like this? Is it worth the money? Or should I stay conservative until my debts are done and kid is a stable situation?

I was in the same class as the dude... With about 100 other guys. At least 12 of us from that class are doctors now. Creepy... no. Superiority of CHS ... Definitely.

We graduated from Catholic together. He beat me out for the pitcher spot. At the time he didn't throw that hard, he just had pinpoint accuracy and that lefty junk. Nice enough dude.
