re: An In-Depth Look at the QBs in the SEC
Posted by cmars14 on 7/9/13 at 9:55 am to ConwayGamecock
The 4.70 is a typo I missed and just went with while putting up the miscellaneous rankings. Thanks for pointing it out.
I know he ran that 4.53 coming out of high school, but since then has put on 10 lbs and presumably will continue to add weight (mainly in muscle) if he has any intention of being drafted to play QB at the next level.
I think he'll continue to put on weight and run in the low 4.6s, if not a 4.60 at the end of the season if he gets an invite to the combine or at his Pro day.

Thanks for the info on Shaw. I should have put 2nd year full time starter and at least 3rd year contributor but I couldn't find how late in the season Shaw came in for Garcia, so I stuck with 2nd year full-time starter

I'm assuming you're talking about Nick Marshall. I hadn't heard much hype about him but after looking up his credentials, I have a feeling he would be an upgrade over Frazier from an athletic perspective. But despite tossing over 3,100 yards last season and 18 TDs in 11 games, he also had an underwhelming completion percentage of 57.1%, and a horrible 20 INTs. As a true passing QB, I'm not sure he's a much better option, but is probably a better athlete who could potentially run the read-option well.
The original 1-7 for the East and West aren't rankings. They're just listings. Despite the fact I'm an LSU fan, Mett is NOT the #2 QB in the SEC or in SEC West. I gave you factual rankings in other categories and leave it up to you and everyone else to decide the 1-14 rankings as complete QBs
An In-Depth Look at the QBs in the SEC
Posted by cmars14 on 7/8/13 at 5:55 pm
4 schools either lost their starting QB form 2012 to the NFL draft or graduated him. 5 schools will have a QB battle on-going for a while as a result of losing last year's starting QB or poor QB play.
For these schools, based on on-field experience/performance and recruiting stature, I accounted for the QBs I believe will start next season:
