The critical flow rate is the one at Natchez. Knowing that rate tells you how much they have to pull off at ORCS and Morganza to keep Baton Rouge below 1.5 and New Orleans below 1.25. If anyone knows where to find that datum point, I would like to see it.

This site shows a chart of "Current High Water Flows". It's supposed to be showing in real time but as far as I can see it seems to be only updated once or twice a day. I hope that helps.
Originally they said that Krotz Springs and Melville would see backwater about 7-8 days from the opening of the spillway. Now according to this map it says 36-48 hours. Could this map really be accurate or will it take longer than that?

If it is 2.3 at Natchez, they will have to put the maximum 620 through ORCS.

According to this map Natchez is projected at 2.7. Could ORCS and Morganza realistically handle that much?

Thanks, so the actual Town of Melville should be ok unless there is a breech of some sort?

Melville - Army Corps Map

I've been following the thread for a few days and I've come to the conclusion that there are quite a few knowledgeable people on here. Which leads me to ask you all this question.

According to this map LINK it shows Melville getting up to 5 ft of water. It also shows Krotz Springs getting up to 15 ft of water. The levees surrounding these 2 towns are pretty high. If I were to guess maybe 45-50 ft. So are they predicting that the water would top the levee when they open Morganza? If so how, if flood stage for Melville is 41 ft and they are predicting it to crest at 40 ft?

Am I missing something? They've called for a voluntary evacuation for Melville and Krotz Springs. I'm just confused, can someone shed a little light on this?
