Great man to protect this country.
Honestly one of the best O Line classes we've ever had.
Collins looks especially quick today.

Collins is making a good decision. Hunter is making a meh decision....Kwon A. made a bad choice, he is very undersized and wont get drafted till very late IMO.

You nailed it.

re: The LSU plane is in North Carolina

Pinehurst is not remotely close to Charlotte. Only thing there is a very exclusive golf course (site of US Open) and luxury hotel/resort.

Not saying it's not possible. Just there are many places closer to Charlotte one would want to fly to instead.
Another thing...Les Miles lies...a lot. About injuries, about who may play, who's looking good in practice, about all kinds of things.

Not saying this to trash him, simply acknowledging this info the search is going to be much longer may be bogus.

Or maybe it's true...
Completely resetting is the simpler explanation.

It's a little weird this leaks on the Sunday night of the playoffs and prior to the NC. Not sure what that means if anything.

i think its safe to assume at this point that LSU has not hired anyone - secretly or not.

I'm coming around to this...it's the simplest explanation.
Let's assume for a sec Ponamsky is not totally full of BS and is not just making it up. Why the news it won't be until 1/23? Could mean...

1). Recruit theory: They have no clue. Still looking through a long list. Not worried because no visiting recruits until 1/23. Speculation of announcement on the day of the NC meant they had to pump the brakes.

2). NFL coach theory: they've locked in on a guy but he is in the playoffs still. Leaking early would sabotage the deal or be problematic for some reason.

3). Reset theory: someone they had locked onto just went another direction. There has been a lot of movement in the last 24 hours in the pro ranks. They now need to reset, start over and needed to kill speculation they would have an announcement tomorrow.

4). Lie theory: Ponamsky was fed a lie for some reason (possibly to head fake the media before announcing tomorrow)

#1 and #4 seem unlikely but possible. Optimist in me says it's #2. Theory #3 would be bad.

Keep guessing Hanny's Hints - that is exactly what it was intended to do.

What do you mean? Catch me up, what was it intended to do?

Are you saying Hanagriff was completely full of BS and trying to get ratings?

Or that someone from LSU fed him some BS to deflect attention (meanwhile they don't have a clue and they're scrambling)?
The confounding piece of info is the secrecy.

I think this points to an NFL hire. I'm not sure of anyone else that would need/want to delay.

This is just an educated guess though.
That makes me wonder about Monte Kiffin.
Fair enough. Though I did get the impression it would be a name we recognized.
What we exactly do we know? I don't post a lot, so I'm trying to summarize 47 pages of threads. Understand this is all Germans and long but to summarize...

1). Hanagriff says big name, look at resume. Also said he knows LSU has two names and he was given one of them.
2). Clues appear to be someone with NFL and/or SEC experience.
3). Reasonable to assume Miles is being very deliberate and is taking his time. Obvious choices like Haley and Orgeron have not happened yet. Also, very tight lipped towards rumors. Although it appears there have been some leaks recently (I.e. Hanagriff)
4). Prospective coaches stoops, shoop, (or their agents) have been the ones to initiate conversations that got into the public domain thus far. Shoop backed off because of "a timeline".
5). Reasonable assumption LSU has around 1.3 million to spend on next DC.
6). LSU has become an NFL farm team with talent. Direction of program appears to be on the decline (amongst fans and media). Loss of Chavis was a surprise.
7). National championship is Monday at 8:30 ET. Potential hire announcement would be huge. Would lead the ticker and conversations. Reasonably we can assume, Miles and LSU understand this kind of PR.
8). NFL Playoffs continue to eliminate teams thus clearing the way for a hire.
9). Most other major CFB programs appear to have solidified their coaching staffs.

What does this mean? No idea....but I'd speculate it's a current NFL DC. If we don't know by tommorow, then the one they've zeroed in on is still in the playoffs. Pure guess is it is Del Rio.

If Monday comes and goes the potential candidates left will be harder to hide.
This is the place.

The more I think about it, its a good place to have meetings in a very quiet setting. No media or riff-raff is getting in there easily.

I've known that sort of stuff to happen with military leaders from Fort Bragg are conferencing/meeting Pentagon/CIA brass.
Moore County Airport...

I'm in North Carolina and not far from there. The only thing close to it is Pinehurst (site of the US Open). Its also a luxury hotel, etc. Not a bad site if you want to do business interview(s) but defintiely a haul from anywhere in SC and NC. That said, it is very private, exclusive place. If you were going to Pinehurst then you would almost definitely fly to Moore County.

Charlotte, Wake Forest, UNC, Raleigh, East Carolina all have much closer airports that one would want to fly to before going to Moore County.

Possibly, I could see if you had business in Raleigh through the weekend (i.e. Stuart Scott funeral) but that is a stretch.

As for golf, it about mid 40s now and this weekend its getting into the 20s. I seriously doubt this.

I follow recruiting some and I am pretty sure there is no one in the Moore County area on LSU's radar.

So in summary, I don't have a clue, but it could be a place to conduct one or a number of interviews.
