re: The LSU-aTm rivalry told from an Aggie

BenHOGan/OzChuffNugg,
I made no excuses for the loss, but I put the loss more on our sloppy play than anything else. A loss is a loss no matter how it comes, but most of our earlier season problems have become some of our later season strengths.
I haven't followed Arkansas, so I can't really testify to how they have grown over the season, but my statement was that I would take our team now vs Arkansas then and make my bet the Ag's win. I have no clue how Arkansas has changed or grown over the season, and my first post was not an attempt at revisionist history. I wasn't trying to play the game of ifs, just the major reasons we lost that game.
In regards to 'tell it to the arky fans', my comment was in response to an LSU poster posing the question/situation of how we played against Arkansas, so obviously at least one person with LSU in their username 'gives a shite' who wasn't you, so you could not give a shite all you want, but my response wasn't to you in the first place.

We hung pretty tight with Arky, and that was really before our O line and our two freshman tackles started coming of their own.
We lost really because of some sloppy play. Our then starting QB went 15/40 with 1 pick, 1 TD. We had 4 turnovers in the game, 3 within our own 40. A clean ball game would have gotten us the win, but we obliviously didn't have a clean game. the score was 21-14 at half, and we traded field goals in the second half to end up 24-17 final.
We had a chance to win, but it seemed every chance we had we slipped up or arky got a turnover. If we matched up again today with Arky I would take my bets on A&M winning

Expansion is what ultimately ended the series, no?
That argument has been made many times, but the logic doesn't seem to hold water. I think Deke's assertion that you guys were running through some bad seasons and really didn't need the extra challenge of the series and its associated losses to further worsen your record at the time when you were trying to build up.
Regardless of what ended it though, it seems to be more the way it ended that left the bad blood.
There is a great amount of tradition in the rivalry though, and it would be nice to fan some of the old flames at the cotton bowl.

He does a good job in crossing route coverage behind the D line and is quick to the outside, but his best attributes are his speed around the outside and his lateral movement on any running plays that try to beat our guys to the outside. He sealed the victory for us by covering an outside run against OU and also sealed it against Texas by making an interception on a tipped ball where he dropped into coverage.
Von's main weakness is that he really has no inside move. If he is lined up to rush he uses his speed and quickness to work around the TE/Guard. He has made sacks through the middle on blitz's where he doesn't get covered, but he rarely will beat a tackle by making a move to the inside when the tackle is keyed on to blocking him.

IlikeyouBetty, not sure where you read anything about playing time of Von Miller. There was nothing said about play time. The 30-40% was how often he rushes the QB vs dropping to coverage or delayed blitz.

Howdy,
Not to split hairs TriumphTiger, but SEC Expansion and the Conference Championship Game started in 1992. The series between LSU & A&M played up to the 1995 season.
Good luck if you guys do end up coming to the Cotton Bowl. It has been a while since we played Miles from his days at Okie State. Prepare to pay ridiculous prices for food and beer at Jerry World!
