I would't say 3rd string because JR wasn't all that great either. I agree that Mett is older and has more experience. I was just wondering for the sake of competition if Rivers is pushing Mett. I watched him throw today and he seemed a little content.

Why is Mettenberger the automatic "heir apparent"? Rivers looks just as good and has the "Rivers" pedigree. Is he getting any serious look at #1?
