So he’s right on his supposed talent level. Got it

That will work well here

He immediately had equal talent

What happened 4-5 years ago is irrelevant.

Here are the composite talent rankings in the AAC:

2023
Memphis #2
USF #3
Tulane #4
North Texas #11

2024
Tulane #1
USF #4
Memphis #5
North Texas #7

2025
Memphis #1
USF #2
Tulane #4
North Texas #8

If this much of a talent deficit makes it unfair to compare Golesh's results with those other programs.... well I know I don't have to tell you this, he's not about to walk into a more even playing field at Arkansas.

He has ran the #1 offense in the SEC, I don’t think anybody should be worrying about the offense

Yeah but my concern is how much of that is just Huepel. Tenn has the #1 offense in the conference this year, 2nd last year.

It’s not like Golesh was the mastermind of that offense. He didn’t have any background in the veer n shoot before his connection with Huepel.

He’s been able to copy paste in the G5 so far, but I’m not sure how much credit I give him for the TN production.

Kinda interesting… Huepel picked up his scheme from Joe Jon Finley who got it from Briles.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all, eve those of you who are wrong about Bobby
I don't have a problem with the veer & shoot. I think Golesh would bring a good offense here. I don't expect better results than a Petrino offense vs SEC competition, but it will be good.

He put up a 60 spot on Morris at North Texas just a short time ago and waxed his arse, in Denton.

He did finally be one of the other future p4 coaches. Yet North Texas has had a much better year overall..

Now do his results vs Silverfield and Sumrall

Golesh probably has the highest upside of any of the up and comers.

Yeah yeah because we’re told so.

Ignore the fact that he’s been outperformed by the three other “up and comers” in his conference.

My IQ sucks though. I’m not able to take in this magic knowledge that Golesh is an amazing coach. It’s not knowledge that can’t be taken in through actual results or evidence. Just gotta be a ball knower

Quit defending your hero man. He had a damn good run and a second chance.

Y’all insist it has to be about hero worship, living in the past or some sort of cult mentality. I couldn’t care less about that. All I want is the coach that gives us the best chance to win. I see Petrino as a better option than Golesh.

What y’all want to use to disqualify Bobby is his record after taking over mid season. My claim is that whoever your favorite pick to be coach is , they would have had the same result if they were named interim for us.

We didn’t fire Chad for going 2-10 his first year.

Everyone’s darling Matt Campbell went 3-9 and 4-8 with much easier schedules, but it doesn’t disqualify him.

Bobby is the only one who gets held to this standard of winning immediately. He hasn’t even been given one offseason.

Has Bobby lost the team? No - in fact the team has played harder for him than they did for Sam.

Is his scheme outdated? No we have a top 10-15 offense in the country.

You can fault him for picking a QB that didn’t pan out, but that’s the easiest fix in the world in the transfer era. There’s nothing about his track record that says he’s not likely to get a great QB. In fact we may already have one.

FWIW - there are guys I would support over Bobby. Golesh is just not one of them. And I’m not saying that he’s going to be 100% a failure because there are things I do like about him. I just liked our odds better with BP going forward

Not to mention insinuating you can't have an opinion on a hire simply because you weren't the billionaire that bought him is ridiculous.

It’s like saying if you don’t run a super pac, you can’t vote
Maybe we're putting together the dream team staff

HC - Campbell
OC- Petrino
DC - Womack
TE coach- Golesh
O-line - Mateos
GM- Gruden
Wess also said that Morris was slow playing Okie State waiting to see if we offered, which we never did.

:banghead:
That would be my first thought on the mystery P4 coach, but we also had reports that Campbell had already met with Scanlon/Yurachek. Marcello is saying this guy won't interview until after.

Wes Moore says he was convinced last night that the hire was basically done, but that it was someone other than Golesh - a sitting P4 coach. He got more info this morning that confirmed what he was thinking, before Schaap's tweet threw a loop in things.

Marcello says there is at least one P4 coach who wants to interview, but won't until the season is over.

Enjoyed that. He does seem genuine

But he beats UAB (usually) and was the assistant to the assistant manager for a good offense at Tennessee. Trust the ball knowers

Wess made it sound like Golesh was still our 1 there tho.

Pretty dumb if so.

Weren't there whispers Sam cam be a petty a-hole?

Told a story on here a few years ago about a friend who had first-hand interaction with him, saying Sam was a stuck up a-hole. Surprised me at the time. Got downvoted into oblivion for it, but doesn't make it any less true.

The good ol boy Sam thing was a big act, IMO.

Saw that Golesh is 1-7 in American conference games vs teams with winning records
quote:

The report was that Golesh had an offer sheet. Well hell, that doesn’t mean shite. Just pure retardium on the part of TreySchapp

He's taking a gamble that it actually works out. Seems to be still very up in the air, at this point. All we know is he has an offer
