Actually Miles has a very good deckhand. It was just a little inside joke. I fish with both of them often and I would recommend Nautical Miles if you are looking for a first class fish killing crew.
Miles is top notch but his deckhand NEEDS TO LEARN A LIITLE BIT !!

also try the rigs and reef befor the drill ships if the water is clean. we have been catching wahoo all summer from 130+ feet of water as long as it is blue. Pink stretch 30's. I havent been in a couple of weeks but the last time I was out there there was tree drill ships in the area. West of GC 18 and about 20miles North of brutus.

a .22 long is fine a magnum better. But belive this or not I have seen gators shot with a .357 at point blank range and just make a blister on his head. The big bullets do not penetrate like a .22 does that close.

i am not sure why but I would have to say it is because of the deeper water. For some reason the gators that come from the channel and mississippi have much more girth. However they do not tend to get as long. A 12 footer is not that uncommon but you do not see that many. Out of 200 a year we normally kill one or two that size.
Most people(95%) that see an alligator in the wild will guess it to be twice as big as they really are. I have hunted gators for most of my life and have seen them from all parts of the state. Gators from the marsh are long and skinny, while gator from the basin are much fatter. I think this is because of the major river systems. A 10 footer from the marsh may weight 200-300 ilbs. where a gator from the basin can be 300-800ilbs. I have personally put my hands on one that went 1200+ ilbs.Females do not get as big as males do, in fact it is very rare to kill one over 7ft. Just watch the show and see the difference in the gators that Juinor and troy kills compared to the others.

I am not going to say that a 16ft gator doesn't exist. But I will be willing to bet that you have never seen one and if you have call me so we can go kill it. Because I have been waiting to see one for a long time. By the way the season opens today.
