xyz nailed it! We had two mediocre quarterbacks. Hard to run a spread, throw-it-all-over-the-field offense when you have one quarterback with nervous feet who can't read through his progressions and another who closes his eyes, heaves it, and hopes for the best! Was it the system? The coaching? Or were neither of these guys destined for the college elite? I'll have to go with the latter. I respect these kids for all the hard work they put in, but some just have it, and some don't. They didn't. That being said, we MUST get a coordinator that compliments Les's two tight end, pro-style offensive mentality. And we MUST get a calm, smart, pocket passer (Mettenberger, I hope).

People who put so much behind the "star" system on recruiting amuse me. All a 4 or 5 star athlete did was progress faster than the others. More 3 star players coming out of highschool have ended up in the NFL than 4 or 5 star players. 3 star players tend to work harder and learn more in the college ranks. Both Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee were underachievers. Was it the system? Was it the coaching? Or was it just that both of these players peaked in highschool and were just never going to be mentioned among the elite in college? Who knows? The obvious difference in offensive philosophies between Les and Gary was the problem people! LSU couldn't find an identity because you had two coaches fighting over whether the spread or the power I was going to be run. Les is here to stay now, whether y'all like it or not, and it's time to find a coach that compliments his style of coaching. I continue to see people drooling over the thought of Mike Leach coming in. Are you serious?!? Another spread offense guy?!? We need a pro-style coordinator to come in. That's the bottom line.
That kid is nothing but class, and a stud on the football field to boot! All that said, if Spencer Ware runs next year with the same conviction he ran with in the Cotton, he won't be missed......
Why would anybody want another spread offense guy? We need a pro-style offensive coordinator. I know I'm p*ssing in the wind, but a Josh McDaniels would be nice!!
