Herbstreit and ESPN love LSU

Posted by bbuisson on 8/14/13 at 2:55 pm
Here is what Herbstreit said on the Media Conference call today

I think in the SEC, you know, I know that the talk right now with A&M has been about Johnny Manziel whether he is or is not going to play and all of the off-the-field problems.

But before that, there’s just so much talk about Alabama and A&M and Alabama and A&M and Alabama; I think people are sleeping a little bit on LSU. I think this is the type of team that Les Miles really likes where you have a quarterback with a year under his belt and you have got Cam Cameron as offensive coordinator and a ton of skill around him. The defense is John Chavis, and so you know they are going to be good.

I still think the winner of the Alabama / LSU game is going to Atlanta and also go to the National Championship. I think within their own conference, I think within their own division, they had better be careful and look out for LSU, even though that’s a home game.

Report: Russell Shepard staking claim on No. 2 WR job by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(08/05/13) The Eagles' No. 2 receiver job is Russell Shepard's to lose, according to CSNPhilly.com. With Jeremy Maclin out for the season and Riley Cooper on extended leave, Shepard has been working with the starting unit opposite DeSean Jackson.
"He has great speed, he runs great routes, he has a good set of hands," Michael Vick said. "He knows how to play football instinctively and that's what you're always looking for, a guy you don't have to teach everything."

Defensive lineman Bennie Logan, a teammate of Shepard's at LSU, said the undrafted 6-1, 195-pounder is "dominating this camp." Shepard is ahead of Damaris Johnson and Arrelious Benn, according to the report.

I met with a guy from good harbor that had a similar strategy that is quite impressive. They offer 3 allocations:

All fixed(not cash)
50/50
All equity ( some leveraged)

I really like them as well. We have been using them for a few years.

have you tried Newby's on Wednesday nights? pretty darn good

Yeah, they are absolutely terrible. Unless it's a new person cooking them.
Oh yeah, independent(s) are the most astute advisors out there.
Once again, depends on the advisor and the firm. They have good and bad everywhere. Definitely go with someone or institution that is reputable.

I do have the plate setter. I was going to set a drip pan with liquid on the plate setter to keep it moist and with a indirect heat. My orginal thought was around 325-350 degrees.

Turducken on grill

Posted by bbuisson on 11/21/12 at 8:42 am
Does anyone have recommendations about cooking a turducken on the grill? (How long, Covered or uncovered, which side up?) I have a Big Green Egg and I have smoked a bunch of turkeys and they come out great. This is my first attempt at the turducken so I don't want to F it up. Or should I just bake it to be safe? Thanks

You will learn very little as a bank financial advisor, except how to sell annuities and other high commission products.

You may want to do a little more research.

I wouldn't classify all bank programs the same. Some are terrible places to learn the business and others are better than your wirehouses. All depends on the program.
I'm no mortgage expert but you may want to check into a Lender Paid MI Loan.
5% down with no PMI. That way you avoid the PMI without having to put 20% down. The only problem with a Lender Paid MI Loan is it never goes away unlike PMI. But with interest rates so low it looks pretty attractive.
Just a thought.

Stewart, I'm a devout LSU Tiger fan living amidst the Pac-12 conference fans in Northern California. As much as I love the Tigers, can you explain to me how they can possibly justify their high preseason rankings given they have one of the toughest (if not THE toughest) schedules in football this year?
-- Curtis Barthold, Danville, Calif.

Knowing the way the voters think, it's no secret how the Tigers garnered such a lofty ranking. They went 11-2 last year while playing in the big, bad SEC; they won a January bowl game; and, like Alabama, LSU is a recent national-championship program that recruits well year in and year out. But is it asking too much of the pollsters to dig a little deeper?

This is a team that caught every imaginable break en route to 11 wins last season -- the last-second mulligan against Tennessee, the fake field goal that bounced just right against Florida, the remarkable Les Miles fourth-down reverse against Alabama. I know many feel Miles is immune from typical football karma, but generally speaking, teams that eke out so many close wins one year tend to go the other way the next.

For example, Iowa, which went 11-2 in 2009 with a slew of comebacks and last-second miracles, then, with mostly the same core of players, reverted to 8-5 last year with several last-minute losses.

Throw in a murderous early schedule (non-conference games against Oregon and at West Virginia, and a trip to pesky Mississippi State all in September) and the continual enigma that is quarterback Jordan Jefferson, and you've got all the ingredients for a textbook "flop" team. In fact I'm puzzled why the Tigers are 10 spots ahead of the same Arkansas team that both beat them head-to-head last season and earned a BCS berth. Mark it down here: The Razorbacks will finish at least 10 spots higher than LSU in the final poll.

re: K.Sheppard SPY CAM

Players said that talk of a "spy" -- someone assigned to shadow Newton exclusively -- was a recipe for defensive disaster.

"Never," Sheppard said. "In this league, I doubt that any defensive coordinator tells a player to spy on one guy. When you do that, it opens up a lot of holes in the defense."
