re: Just got my first ever personal message from an admin

My buddy got a private message up above the board after he got the banhammer... but he was wrongfully accused
I have some friends that work there and they took great care of us. The seared tuna was just okay. I got the boar with the cauliflour puree and asparagus cooked down with tomatoes. It was aight. However, the spring rolls were off the chain. I would highly recommend getting your filet Oscar style. Thats served with asparagus spears and topped with a crabmeat and hollandaise sauce. C'est Bon!
Best players to face LSU This Year
Posted by nichoLSU on 7/1/10 at 2:56 pm
I watched a pretty good bit of LSU baseball this year. Now that the year has come to an end, who sticks out in your mind that played against LSU as a "great player".
My top 3 in no particular order:
Trevor Baur - UCLA
Brett Eibner - Arkansas
Jason Espisito - Vanderbilt
Baur was UCLA's "#3" in a deep staff, but he rose to the top in postseason boasting the only record of the top 3 without a loss. Totally shut down everyone he pitched against. Had uncanny composure on the mound.. knew all the little trickts and had an amazing command of the ballgame.
Eibner played CF and P for Arkansas and was more than impressive. Even though we got to him on the Sunday when he pitched, he still blew me away. I was sitting behind homeplate when he launched a rocket that sailed OVER the scoreboard at Alex Box.
Espisito plays infield and all I can remember is that we could NEVER GET THIS GUY OUT!
Thoughts?

Would have never thought of that! Sounds great! THANKS
Spaghetti sauce

I love to cook and especially love cooking from scratch. Ive gotten pretty good with my rouxs and gumbos and jambalayas and what not... but i want to learn how to make a traditional italian spaghetti sauce from scratch (or at least not out of the jar... canned tomatoes are okay unless the board suggests otherwise).
Any good recipes out there?

I went their when they first opened bc its by my house.. i got the hamburger steak dinner... pretty damn good. Havent been back tho.
Going south coming from burbank, its on the left in a little shopping center. Its the southernmost shop in that center (all the way to the right). I want to say its the first shopping center.. but i could be wrong. Its about the size of a living room but damn good food.

Is it the best plate lunch in BR?
It IS very very good. I used to live a block from there and loved it, BUT Dorothy's Soul Kitchen on Gardere is OUTSTANDING.
Zeeland definitely looks cleaner, but Dorothy's is cheaper and they give you twice as much food. They have a daily lunch special. You get a meat and 3 sides bread and i think a cookie for 8.50. Get the redbeans and rice for a side... has really good sausage. Steer clear of the mac n cheese tho.

Casa Manana if I'm somewhere I can get it

I load up on this stuff and darrel's specials everytime im in SW Louisiana. If you see it... GET 5 jars.. and bring some to me.
re: Ruth's Chris... worth the higher prices? really?

I used to work at Ruth's ... they get tenderloin strips and have their own butcher cutting the steaks. Its USDA Prime (second only to Kobe beef) thats been cool aged 28 days.
This may have been said but i didnt want to read 5 pages.
Ruth's has some great people working there. Their chef, Carlos Bettancort, is a hell of a guy. He runs a tight ship in that kitchen and they clean the F*<# out of it every night. But their owner, TJ, can rot in hell. BTW, TJ's Ruths Chris are run by a different company, TJM (offices by TJ Ribs), than the main RC franchise.

In the category "Best Restaurant Worth the Drive," Houmas House is listed as 3rd. Houmas House isnt even a restaurant... its a plantation and gardens. They DO have 2 restaurants in Latil's Landing(fine dining) and Cafe' Burnside (more casual). But they dont advertise with 225 so I guess it wasn't worth explaining.
IMO, Latil's Landing is one of the best restaurants in the south.
FWIW, Houma's House won the #1 tourist attraction (Big Louie Award) in the state of Louisiana by the La. Tourist Commission... but you wont hear 225 mention that.

How about a Surrounding Baton Rouge area for notable restaurants like Hymels, The Cabin, Houmas House Plantation, Roberto's, Galatoire's, etc? To have these not in your Baton Rouge guide would be a disservice.
