re: Cam, Luck, RGIII

Can anyone explain Cam Newtons incredible season...other than the fact that he was just that good?

Not insinuating anything just interested to hear what opinions may be had.

Cam, Luck, RGIII

There was more doubt surrounding Cam Newtons ability to run a pro style offense, than either Luck or RGIII. Panthers were the worst team in the league, and Cam produced the best rookie season for a QB ever. No one thought Cam would do what he did. Are these guys the same caliber QB?
Good for Mo. Heard he came from really humble background. Really happy that he won't be too far from home. He has chip on his shoulder the size of the jumbotron in Jerry World. He will be elite in no time. I'm glad he doesn't have to go to Minnesota or Cleveland and most of all Tampa Bay.
Really like the:

Nights- black jerseys Skyline logo flashy like the Heat
Surge- So what we have had green wave it stuck
Navy/ Fleet/ Captains- Obviously we identify with the river/lake
Brass/Beat/Blues-probably the most generic but viable
Knights- use the Jackson statue outline behind the lettering

Really hate:

Krewe- sounded good at first seems like a rec league name has no mass appeal. Mardi Gras colors need to be left alone.

Pelicans/Gators/ Crawfish/ VooDoo- Less than generic....lazy. No appeal

Angels- hokey....no need to pair our two teams by name. Bishops is a little better.

Crescents- come on that's not a thing.

I would be for using The Crescent City _______. Like golden state.

Let's hope that marketing guy they hired is better at this than we are.

Pay-ton Ironic

Payton was basically fined 7 million dollars for this when the team only pays $500,000 dollar fine should be other way around. Players [like James Harrison/ Suh] who have repeatedly caused head trauma or hit QB's illegally/ Stomp a player when he's down and are the bigger risk to player safety than an "incentive" get hit with $50,000 dollar fines and a 2 game suspension. Payton should have just said I can't help it I just learned to coach this way a la the way some excuse Harrison and Suh.

:wah: I know I'll stop.

Meantime, all the "evidence" on the field pretty much exonerates the Saints insofar as any kind of organized intent to "play dirty" and to injure opponents. The Saints' defense didn't exactly accumulate an inordinate number of penalties during the Gregg Williams era, personal fouls or otherwise. Nor have an inordinate number of opponents been "knocked out" or "carted off" during the last three seasons.
Saints need to get the brees deal done though...its getting annoying. I'd like to keep both nicks and/or colston but I do think the chicken little in everyone is scared of moving forward without either. By franchising nicks and trading him we stand to gain more than keeping him, let colston test the waters and see just how much his market value really is.
Well when you consider that they are looking for top tier money

quote:

The Saints are already as in the black as they're ever gonna be with Nicks (and Colston, for that matter.) They've already reaped The Big Reward for having "found" Nicks, in that they've had one of the best guards in the league on the cheap for 4 seasons. That's nothing short of winning the frickin' lottery. Same goes for having fallen arse-backwards into Colston in the 7th round and having him on the cheap for six seasons.

And we've all long since resigned ourselves to the fact that if the Saints sign The Big Three, that's pretty much gonna be it. There's just not gonna be any money left over for any significant changes where we really need 'em, on defense. And giving huge raises to Brees, Nicks and Colston isn't gonna make them kick any more arse than they already do.

Throwing whatever crumbs that might be left over at a couple of relatively crappy free agent defenders (again) isn't likely to be of much help either.

Meantime, not having to pay Nicks makes it a shitload easier for you to sign Colston if that's what you want to do. Or you could choose not to pay either guy. And don't even get me started on releasing one or more of Will Smith, Sedrick Ellis and Jonathan Vilma. All of a sudden the Saints are practically swimming in cap space. Mario Williams, Manny Lawson, insert your favorite "We can't afford 'em" free agent (or two) here. Take your pick.

This article is the single best analysis of our roster situation. A must read.

OBJ will be laughing his way to the first round. Even with an "unproven QB."
