re: How was the party at Gilligan's

Definitely need to add more TVs. We did not run out of water, the restaurant had our supply and ice and didn't put it out when we requested.
We did not get the food or space that we contracted for from J Gilligan's. Felt like we were being undermined by the venue all day. This ended up not being what we had planned. We felt we had done well with the Oregon game and this venue would be good again. Never again will we use J Gilligan's, In my opinion he scammed us and constantly tried to undermine what we were doing. Fortunately most of our guests were not affected however some were and that was not acceptable to us.
We went through 45 kegs of beer and would have had more Abita had it not been $40 more per keg.
We had misters at the last event and had complaints about them getting everyone and their food and clothing wet so we tried to do without them. Better mister management was probably the answer and will definitely look to that for future events. Also, placing fans so that they could not be hoarded by people is another thing we learned.
In the future, we will give preference to the pre-paid registrants by not allowing walkups in the event until one hour after the start time. We will also include a disclaimer about the quantity of food available after a certain arrival time. We do have a limit on the number of tickets and we stopped selling once we reached that limit.
Thanks for your comments.

Putting an event like this together with an all volunteer member force for the number of people that attended will certainly cause some hiccups.
In the future, we will not allow walkups in the event until one hour after the start time so that people that pre-register are allowed in ahead. We will also include a disclaimer about the quantity of food available after a certain arrival time.

Dallas Chapter 31st Annual Crawfish Boil
Posted by BobB98 on 4/6/10 at 10:50 pm
Dallas Chapter 31st Annual Crawfish Boil in less than 2 weeks! Saturday, April 17th at Double D Ranch in Mesquite, TX, the Dallas LSUAA Chapter will host their 31st Annual Crawfish Boil. The largest crowd in our storied history, 825 strong, came to last year’s Boil and sales are ahead of schedule for this year. The primary objective of the Alumni Chapter is to raise funds to endow Top 100 Scholarships for DFW student and the annual Crawfish Boil is the largest single event toward that end. With a goal of raising $20K in 2010, we need the support of all LSU alumni and fans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Whether you’re a resident or just visiting the DFW area that weekend, come out and share LA crawfish and LSU passion with fans young and older. Major sponsors have contributed to making this family event enjoyable for all. Complete information on individual tickets as well as table reservations for crawfish, jambalaya (or a combo of each) as well as hot dogs for the kids can be found by going to our website, www.lsualumnidallas.com, and clicking on the Crawfish Boil banner on our home page. The information page has electronic order form for tickets as well as application or renewal for membership in both the Dallas Chapter as well as the National LSU Alumni Association. (80% of membership dues in our Dallas Chapter are contributed directly to our scholarship fund.) You can also print our order form and mail to our Dallas mailing address on our home page. Early Bird prices expire at midnight April 15th.
By supporting LSU activities in Texas and other outlying states, you help us to bring the message of the quality of a Tier 1 University that we are fortunate to have in Baton Rouge and give others the same opportunity that many of us experienced. And as the fastest growing alumni chapter of its size outside the State of Louisiana, you help us to give back to LSU. So come on down to Double D and enjoy our Spring Fling. (Directions to Double D Ranch can be found by accessing the location icon on the information page.) You’ll be glad you did. We guarantee it! Should you need further assistance, contact John Pierce at membership@lsualumnidallas.com.
Cya on the 17th! Geaux Tigers!
