Not Happy

We were out-gained by our SEC opponents two years in a row, and in 2009, we were out-gained overall for the first time since 1999.

We lost 14 guys who were drafted or signed NFL contracts, and that doesn't include losing two offensive linemen, Ciron Black and Lyle Hitt who started 4 and 3 years respectively.

So, we have little experience coming back and the same morons leading the team and calling the plays.

If they played well enough to get invited to the combine, but AFTER it, weren't good enough to get drafted, I'd say that's more an indictment of Moffit than Miles.

I don't disagree. I'm generally not a supporter of Miles and that's actually a pretty big understatement. However, one could make the case that in the NFL's eyes, the players overachieved in 2009 given they were invited to the combine based on their collegiate performance, but once they were evaluated based on ability, they weren't drafted.

Of course, if that is the case, it begs the question, if these guys really aren't that good, why didn't we have anybody on the roster that the staff played instead?

Uhh is this your first year watching football? That's a pretty standard percentage actually.

Bama had 14 guys invited to the combine and 7 drafted.

Pretty harsh response considering your facts are wrong. Bama only had 10 invited to the combine, including a kicker, who wasn't ultimately drafted. LSU had the highest number of players invited to the combine, 12; so only having 6 drafted is a big miss - and not a typical percentage.

Florida had 10 at combine and 9 drafted.
Auburn 2 and 2.
Georgia 4 at combine, 5 drafted.
Tennessee 5 and 5.

TT does have size and some talent, but for him to go even in the 3rd round, someone is going to have to draw him a map to the endzone. He caught 2 TDs against Washington and only 1 in the final 11 games.

I don't buy Barksdale as a top pick. Look what happened to Ciron, who has always been viewed as a significantly better prospect.

In any case, we likely only have 3 guys drafted next year. PP, TT and JB. Nevis has a shot but he would have to be significantly better this year.
Agree its unlikely. However, a 7-5 record with all 5 losses in the SEC, also unlikely, would get it done. If that were to happen, Miles would have a losing record in the SEC over a three year period.
The buyout isn't as bad as it looks on the surface. Per his contract, the buyout is structured such that he would receive 50% of his annual salary each year for twice the number of years remaining on the contract. Further, the annual buyout payments are reduced by any salary he receives from other sources. So, hypothetically, if he can get a job making half of what he made at LSU, or more, LSU's annual payments under the buyout would be zero. He's also obligated under the terms of the contract to try to find work.
