LOL. I drew this parallel before. Awesome way to point out the hypocrisy.

Really? And so when he's being counted on as the backup QB and blows it YET again, it can't hurt the Saints?

Who are you in this hypothetical, the George Steinbrenner of the NFL with an unlimited amount of money to blow on a very leary and expensive lab experiment?

We have Mark Brunell right now, which is the equivalent of a second tier arena football QB. I'm sure if RP didn't pan out, we could just sign one of those for the league minimum and it wouldn't be any worse than what we are relying on in the event Brees goes down in the Super Bowl.

It doesn't work like that. It's not like someone robs a store and then everyone else on the team starts thinking, "Oh cool, I'll rob stores, too."

What makes you think I was making that argument?

I never said I thought he had a spot. I saying we should be open to letting him earn one.

Oh yes he could.

You must think we have a pretty weak leadership framework in the Saints organization if you think this. He would be a 3rd string rookie QB. Invisible. He could get busted doing an armed robbery and it wouldn't faze the team.

A Super Bowl team with tons of strong veteran leaders is NOT going to be infected by a rookie, even in a worst case scenario. If you think otherwise, you have a poor understanding of this football team.

Link to the last time a rookie bench player "infected" a team? A Super Bowl team at that?

There have been a lot of excellent football players that have had long careers in the NFL with worse backgrounds than this.

The bottom line is, he's gone 2 years with no significant incidents and has played as well at the QB position at that level as anyone else could. He deserves a shot. I wouldn't send him to f'king Oakland, but he very well could flourish under the tutelage of a Drew Brees.
