complete bullshite. smith was choked, drug down from behind, tripped, tackled all night and no calls.
also the refs gave the falcons effectively two timeouts for the fumble call and the measurement right around the two min warning.

If humans were incapable of restoring Louisiana because we lacked the knowledge and engineering skill, that would probably be easier for me to handle. But we know how to do it, the policy makers and politicos are just fricking stupid.

Might I also add that the corps has been studying a diversion near port sulphur for almost ten years now and plans to study it for twenty more years before making a recommendation even though congress already has allocated construction money... No exaggeration there.
Should we somehow secure money for multiple diversions, they would be studied for decades while everything goes to shite.

Davis pond?
He's sortof correct. Davis pond currently is the only diversion into upper Barataria. It's design peak discharge is only 10k cfs whereas during a normal spring the river is at 800k to 1.2 million cfs flow. So in the big picture, Davis pond is marginal at best; plus it was never intended to convey sediment, only freshwater.
To get legitimate land building and flushing power needed, you need either several 50k cfs or greater diversions or a few 100k or greater diversions. Davis pond could be enlarged, and you could make structures at Port Sulphur, Empire, etc. etc. to accomplish this, however you then would have less water in the river, more siltation and a bunch of pissed off politically connected river pilots so it probably will never happen and our coastline will continue to degrade.

i am with ya'll here. engineers may have created the problems, but engineering solutions are required nonetheless.
an auto mechanic messes up your transmission while its in the shop somehow...you don't hire a pastry chef to solve the problem.
the unfortunate reality is that someone will be pissed off in the end no matter what is done, whether it is a landowner, fisherman, river pilot, or plant scientist. if nothing is done, everyone will end up pissed off, so i am all for action.

re: Malcolm Glazer Stadium at Tulane University?
Posted by Combat Barney on 4/14/10 at 8:38 pm
i went on google earth and measured out the land "footprint" of several other stadiums mentioned as possibel models for Tulane, such as several MLS Stadiums, SMU's Akron's to mention a few. I still dont see how Tulane plans to do it unless they tear down some buildings.
the basic minimum footprint for a 30k seater is going to be 600x600 ft. Tulane's athletic fields sit on a 545 by 445 footprint. if they tore down the willson center they could orient the field perpendicular to what it is now and have a 445 by 670 ft. footprint..however, they also plan on cramming in a basketball and volleyball practice facility somewhere in there.

i know its been discussed at length here, but Times Pic has an update... LINK
looks like its moving forward at a decent clip. no idea how they plan to cram it in there along with the new volleyball/bball practice facility, but good for them none the less.
I think it would draw alot more casual fans and maybe eventually convert them to regulars regardless of how shitty the parking will be. tailgating in Audubon park would be cool. Claiborne neutral ground, not so much.

It's not fun when anonymous people take shots at you on the internet.
then don't step into the spotlight of sports. you've got to be an idiot if you think you are going to take the big stage and expect not to be criticized about performance, especially when thousands of people pay a decent amount of money to watch.

For the 2nd time this week I am disgusted that people can't wait to bash an young athlete for simply pitching poorly. Do you feel better for talking bad about a player that chose LSU over other schools, yet isn't going to be selected All-American?
the thread was intended, as many are on this board, to disagree with a coaching decision. this board wouldn't exist if people didn't enjoy second guessing decisions. it happens in all levels of sports. deal with it. i'm guessing you are the type of person who believes there should be no outs or losers in little league as well, and that every kid should get to bat and score every inning so nobody's feelings are hurt.

bradshaw as ussual

i hate to sound like a downer here, i have respect for all LSU players, but Bradshaw should be limited exclusively to midweek games in his current form.
re: My take on weekend rotation for the rest of the season
Posted by Combat Barney on 3/21/10 at 11:57 pm
i really hope bradshaw has played himself out of a weekend reliever role and is demoted to mid week starter. i dont consider myself a negatiger and root hard for all our guys, however he hasnt been up to par with our other relief guys. ...he has had good games here and there over the years, but overall he tends to give up several runs or leave us in a jam every time he's in.

Donovon's Everton situation
Posted by Combat Barney on 3/5/10 at 6:14 pm
does anyone else think the MLS is stupid to disallow Landon Donovon from staying on with Everton for the rest of the season? The MLS has to realize it is not a top flight league and has to let players move on, especially if its in the player and national team's best interest.

go to this site LINK it lays out all of the current contracts. next year we may have some luck at the deadline dumping an expiring (peja or mopete). other than that, no idea; maybe dump west if he continues to play well and get some value in return.
