I am a fried chicken addict... is the fried chicken any good?
The Mr. Gatti's in Denham is decent, but their dessert pizzas suck. I still like Godfather's chocolate chip dessert pizza the best. As for Sicily's...
I think the best I've had is Peppers Pizzeria in Thibodaux. Their Jambalaya Pizza, made with smoked sausage from Bourgeois Meat Market, is the TRUTH!
I like Johnny DeAngelo's alright, but the buffet is so damn inconsistent. Some days I go and they have many different items to choose from (I like the Napa Valley Chicken), and other times I go (like a few days ago) and all they had was pizza/drink for $7.99. The problem was, there were only 2 pizzas out. Also, he doesn't use a buffet line for his pizzas, so they get cold & dry quickly. One day I went and they didn't offer the buffet at all. If they're gonna have a buffet, they need to have the same setup every day.

OK, what's in the Rachel Roll?
The arancine' appetizer is good. The last time I went, I had a steak that was quite tasty, but overpriced. The manicotti are alright. The pasta dishes are all pretty basic.

Anyone ever been there?

I've only been there once... do they have anything good there? My friend said they had a steak so big it covered the whole plate.
I may go to Dempsey's someday soon, since it's close to my new house and I've never been there. What do y'all recommend?
I had a great steak last year at Hilltop... maybe I'll just go there again.

Damn. I remember hearing rave reviews about the place when it opened. I don't want "average" -- I can get that at Lonestar or Texas Roadhouse.
Hmm, that's strange. I really like the place. It's very unique and offers dishes that no other place in the city offers. Sorry to hear you had a bad meal.

What does the Rachel Roll at Sushi Yama have in it? I didn't see it on their menu.
I really want a steak. But so far, the only steak they have that I have heard good things about is their filet. I wanted a big-arse steak.
I love their oysters, although they're somewhat pricy. The only thing I had that I didn't like was the tuna.

I'm going tonight for the first time-- any suggestions?
I recommend the Bombay Club or Napoleon House...

Pitt fan, huh? That's where I'm from.
Yep, that's it. I don't care too much for many of their rolls, but I do like a few, and The Green Monster is my favorite of the bunch.
Sorry, but I disagree (regarding Tsunami). I used to feel the same way you do (I actually stopped going there for a couple years), but during my past two recent visits, the sushi was very good. I agree that the prices are high, but some of the sushi rolls, including my favorite, The Green Monster, are very good. I also like the sushi at WAKA House on Sherwood...

If I had to choose one, it would be the Green Monster Roll at Tsunami; it's phenomenal.
OK, I just went and tried this place for myself. And he wasn't joking-- this place was HORRIBLE! Their Mongolian grill was a joke! It consisted of shredded carrots, shredded celery, pork chunks, and squid. And on the actual buffet, there were also several squid dishes. I've never seen so many squid dishes on a buffet before. The best thing they had on the buffet was the almond cookies on the dessert bar. I'm not trying to be funny, either. I am serious! I will never go back to this place.

"The Great Wall, a popular Chinese buffet on College Drive, has been infested with insects for more than a year, according to Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals inspections.
During a May 22, 2007, inspection of the restaurant, the sanitarian confirmed the complaint and discovered “fruit and regular flies” in the establishment. Another Great Wall customer filed a complaint on Feb. 17 saying she saw roaches crawling on the sneeze-guards of the restaurant’s buffet line.
Orkin Pest Control visited the restaurant on Feb. 25 to combat the pest problem, but a March 6 inspection by the LDHH discovered roaches were still living in the building."

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! Sorry for doubting you.
Sorry, don't believe it. Show me some proof.

I don't care for Hunan or Oriental Pearl. I like Hunan's food, just not their buffet. Great Wall and Grand Wall (Gonzales) have always been my faves...

Has anyone ever eaten at Suire's in Kaplan? Hebert's Steakhouse in Nunez? Soop's in Maurice? The Yellow Bowl in Jeanerette? If so, what can you tell me about these places? Are there any other places that I'm missing, that I should definitely try this weekend while I'm out in that area?
Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro does...

Not sure what route you're taking, but Mammy's Cupboard in Natchez is a great place; also, The Old Country Store in Lorman (closer to Natchez) has an awesome country buffet with what Alton Brown says is the world's best fried chicken...
