Tomato Sauce, must be a New Orleans thing, my husband says they like everything in tomato gravy. We don't eat our tamales with tomato sauce.

Cantu's Tamales are not dry, you definately see in the grease in the "Gravy" Mrs. Anna calls the juice they are cooked in "The gravy" Um, good. You must try Cantu's Tamales in Denham Springs if you are looking for a GREAT Tamale. Not dry, lots of flavor

Talked to Mrs. Anna today, she said she's not sure if it's you or Smiley. But she has had people driving in from all over the State, Mandeville, Slaughter, Ventress, etc. coming to get Tamales! Whoever, or whatever, She says, " Thanks" It makes a 71 year old lady's heart proud to have so many people like something she makes!! She doesn't use the internet so she asked me to say Thanks for her

Got my info from Mrs. Anna, "The lady who makes the hot tamales" Don't worry, drive out there, she makes them every day! Just didn't cook enough yesterday for the onslaught of people thanks to Smiley Anders column I guess.!!

Smiley Anders had something in the paper today about Cantu's Hot Tamales, They were sold out within 30 minutes of opening today. Had to wait couple of hours for another batch to cook. Must be some tamale eating people around.

The tamales are in Denham Springs at Cantu's about a mile off I-12. The phone number is 225-243-7705. Open Monday-Sat 10:30 to 7:00. They are some of the best.
