Coaching or Talent

Posted by thetuckerman on 10/26/08 at 5:58 am
Asking for unbiased comments. What is the prob this season, coaching or talent. It's clear the co-DC doesn't work. But maybe the talent is over-rated too. I know what the recruiting rankings say, but those are only important to fans. Coaches recruits players for their system.

On paper, here in Dallas, the Cowboys have the best talent in the league, but they are playing like crap. Are they really as good as advertised, or being coached poorly? Maybe, just maybe we just don't have the roster quality we had in the recent past.
An good friend once told me, never trust a man over 30 that still parts his hair in the middle.

Alabama Nose Tackle

The monster Bama NT got rolled up and looks to be hurt badly. Shades of Glen Dorsey. If he's out for any length of time it will cripple Saban's 3-4.

Bama noseguard looks like he's hurt bad. Got rolled up. Don't wish bad for the kid, but that takes the heart out of Saban's 3-4.
Jones hasn't won a playoff game in 12 years
Also, Jerry Jones is not the go-to guy on class and dignity.
David LaFleur was a huge bust in Dallas. Aikman had hand picked him as the next great TE after Novacek prior to the draft. What happened? Maybe it was Miles. Hmmmmmmm
Nobody thinks Mack Brown is a genius. He is a great politician, recruiter, and hirer of good assistants. Brown never won a conference, much less national, title without the one-year wonder of Vince Young. As for Miles, he wasn't with the Dallas Cowboys very long, and didn't make much of an impression. Nobody much remembers him.
Football coaches are basically jr. high gym coaches with better than average organizational skills. It's not rocket science, there are no geniuses (except maybe the late great Bill Walsh). When they make $3 MM/yr. they deserve to be questioned when they screw up.
bush,my father, brother and I all graduated from The Ole War Skule. I live in Texas and my son fininshed at TAMU, but a huge LSU fan. We spent 4 grand for good tickets in '04 to watch the Tigers win their first championship since '58. I love LSU football but have been through enough ups and downs to see what's is happening. See ya, and have a great day.

just speaking the truth, man. If you're happy with the way things are going, enjoy yourself.

Miles - Mallory - Peveto

How many other teams have two defensive coordinators? Obviously Miles didn't have full confidence in either to do the job solo.

Maybe its the first corporate rule. Never hire anyone smarter than you, they might end up with your job.

Maybe it's that national championship ring.
