On paper, this may be McNeese's strongest team in 10+ years. Unfortunately for us, SLU may be the best FCS team in the country this year. Will be interesting to see how this season shakes out. Hope we can at least make it a game this year.

DLAUW- I was bidding against you for those seats at the McNeese Baseball/Softball fundraiser. Really wanted to see a game in Alex Box from the dupout.

I'd still like to get Mcneese fans take on the OP. Do any of y'all honestly think Mcneese deserves to be ranked ahead of SLU?

It depends on how you are determining the ranking. If you are basing it on head to head them absolutely not. If you are basing it on their whole schedule them maybe. McNeese has wins against SHSU and South Florida which on paper is better than any win SLU has. I am not saying that its right or wrong just showing the whole picture. SHSU beat Eastern Washington earlier in the year and now Eastern is ranked 3 and SHSU 6. Same as SLU being ranked ahead of SDSU. Poll voters realize what it takes to win a game and that all it takes is an off night from one team for another team to win. SLU was better last Saturday night. They might be better every Saturday night but you can't base that on one night. If I were a poll voter I would have SLU ahead of McNeese but I could certainly understand where they are coming from.

Like I said before, I think McNeese is ranked right where they should be and deserve to be. I think SLU is still underrated. I think the issue is more where teams were before this happened. It is hard to jump a team from 25 into the top 10 and it is hard to drop a team from top 5 out of the top 15 based on 1 game. If everything was based on 1 game we would have huge swings week to week.
They have a total of 40 transfers on their roster. The number of kids from out of state well out number the kids from LA. Most of there players come from FL and California. I too wish we would expand our recruiting area. The days were the unseen kid from Newton is gone. Now with the internet it is harder to get that superstar that no one knows about. I would like to know how they got the transfer from Kansas 1 month after school started. That is a coach that thinks outside the box and makes things happen. Sometimes I think our coaches are afraid to step inside the gray area. Everything is black and white. I think we miss out on some good kids because of that. Sometimes I take pride in the fact that we have coaches that play by the rules and don't flirt with laws. Coach V once told me "it's hard to win with choir boys". Sometimes I feel like our coaching is too much like choir boys as well.

SLU is not a team full of rented players.

According to your media guide 12 of the 22 offense and defensive starters are transfers. Part of me wishes McNeese would go out and do something like that because every now and then you hit a homerun and the team comes together. Re-reading my post I see that I sound like a extremely poor loser. Best of luck to SLU the rest of the way. Good luck in the playoffs this year. Hopefully the SLC is represented well with 3 teams all playing well in the playoffs.
I love it. One half decent season with a bunch of rental player transfers and all of a sudden SLU fans are coming out of the wood works. Cant wait until ya'll slip back into being the bottom dweller. The fact is SLU was better that night. They are no NDSU though. they are beatable and will be beaten. I would not be scared to face them in the playoffs. Bennett was a very below average 14-29 on the night for 155 yards. Stroud had a very uncharacteristic off night. He was 8th in the country in pass efficiency coming into the game for a reason. He was completely off. It had nothing to do with SLU's defense. Look at what they had given up all year. Their defense isn't very good. McNeese might not be that good. I can live with that. I just don't think SLU is as good as the score indicated.
bullshite McNeese could run all game long and the coaches chose to pass because the pass was open. Stroud missed wide open receivers and the ones he did hit dropped the ball. That is why we only ran the ball 18 times all game and averaged 5 yards per carry.
I spoke to a lot of the players yesterday. They did not feel like SELA was anything special. They mentioned that they felt like UNI was much better. They just shite the bed and had a bad game plan. I assure you they would not be scared to play them again. Hard to beat the same team twice. See LSU/ Alabama a couple of years ago and McNeese/WKU in 2002. McNeese beat WKU in the regular season 35-13 and lost to them in the finals that year 34-14.
In a three way tie where all the teams have beat each other the next tie breaker is what team has been the longest without going to the playoffs. Since SELA has never been to the playoffs that would be them.

With the expansion of the playoffs to 24 teams and the MVFC being a 1-2 bid league this year and the SOCON being a 1 team bid this year, all three teams should get in.
You think that's a mystery how about:

19 SDSU > 16 SELA > 11 McNeese > 6 SHSU > 3 EWU

Seems like they have a lot backwards. I think McNeese is in the right place. They just have everyone else flip flopped.

This has got to be the dumbest comment I have ever heard. Viator is a blessing for McNeese. You show me a better coach who is willing to work for what McNeese pays. Viator is dedicated to McNeese. He and his staff work hard each week. He has turned down quite a few bigger offers just because he wants to stay in Lake Charles.

Jacobs didn't drop anything this past week. The announcer kept calling his name on the dropped passes but it was actually Number 89 Kendale Thomas who dropped those 2 touchdown passes.

That is not true. He did stay clean. He just did not want to be here and bailed without graduating.

I just wish Tommy hadn't have been such a frick up. Even if I did follow him off the field after that loss to Texas St. in 06 and proclaim what a shitty coach he was.

He was fired in 2006 and Coach V was the coach against Texas State that year.

Yes but his job duties are now regulated to special teams. He does ok with that.

You said our D coaches should already be gone. The secondary coach is brand new this year and Coach Collins is the Defensive Coordinator. Manny Michelle is the D-line coach and he is probably the second best coach on the staff.

"If we don't make the playoffs this year, I'm hearing rumblings that someone may be out of a job. That's all on V though, our D coaches should already be gone."

You must not follow McNeese football that closely. Coach Collins is the D Coordinator. No way we get rid of him. He is the best coach on the staff. He hasnt even had a chance to build his own defense. Defense will be much improved this year. TM would be an improvement but I like what we have with out him as well.

What about JJ? He stopped more offense than any of them.

"but look at what Ladarius Webb Did at Nicholls.

TM7 could do the same and make it to the NFL that same way"

That means nothing. LaDarius Webb could have made the NFL from anywhere. Are the coaches that coached Webb even still there?
