Micah Gibbs Q & A from Cape Cod

Micah Gibbs Cape Cod Q & A
When Micah Gibbs plays catcher, his instincts kick in and he plays at a quicker pace than most of his counterparts. The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox’ newest power hitter, a College World Series champion from Pflugerville, TX, also has a very quick wit...
Gibbs loves the challenge that Cape League baseball brings, and welcomes any opportunity to break the ice with teammates, fans or coaches whenever possible. In a recent interview, the Rawlings Gold Glove winner talked about his favorite movie, his favorite athletes and how it may not be as easy for Gibbs to sign a pro contract as many might think.
Q: Who are some people who have made a profound impact on you?
A: My dad always had me in the front yard or back yard throwing and hitting, and after games my dad would always be hard on me. My mom was always there, to bring me back up and keep me level-headed. When I got to college, our assistant coach, Cliff Godwin, helped me a lot and helped make me the catcher I am now. Coach (Javi) Sanchez has also helped me.
Q: What are your goals?
A: Obviously, to play major league baseball. That’s my main goal. I also want to get my college degree.
Q: What is your major?
A: Sports Administration. I wouldn’t mind being a general manager or something like that.
Q: What’s your favorite movie?
A: Bull Durham. That’s a good one.
Q: What’s your favorite book?
A: That’s a tough one. The dictionary.
Q: What do you like to do off the field?
A: I like to play table tennis. Are there any table tennis clubs on the Cape?
Q: I’m not sure. What are some of the most memorable moments of your career?
A: Winning a national championship for sure, but number two would probably be winning the world championship with Team USA.
Q: What’s the toughest position in baseball?
A: Pitcher. You’re right there in the middle of everything, if you don’t do well everybody blames you. If you do well, you get all the credit. But physically, probably catcher is toughest.
Q: If you could play a position in any other sport, what would it be?
A: Probably golf. I don’t think there’s another position in golf. So just golfer.
Q: Who are some of your favorite athletes?
A: I like Jason Varitek, LeBron James, Tiger Woods. I really like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the tennis player.
Q: What’s playing in your iPod right now?
A: It’s off.
Q: If it were on, what would be playing?
A: Probably a lot of country. You’d see a little bit of Gloria Estefan, a little bit of Fergie to keep my ears guessing. But mainly country.
Q: What’s it been like living with a host family?
A: It’s a lot better than a hotel. You actually get to communicate with people other than your roommate. I’ve been there for a week and it’s already my second home.
Q: If you could be drafted by any MLB team, who would you pick?
A: Whichever team drafts (teammate) Kevin Rhoderick. We’re going to be a package deal, like Step Brothers, only more economically sound. We agreed to it a few days ago on the bus.

On Colvin's adversity:
Does anyone know why St. Thomas More had to forfeit 15 games?
quote:
Colvin certainly experienced plenty of that as a senior leader on the Cougars' baseball team that had to forfeit 15 games and then endure a coaching change just as the District 3-5A season was heating up.

Linking Cysts to Steroids?
Posted by LSUHefner on 3/6/09 at 9:43 am
I find it slightly coincidental that both Giambi and now A-Rod have come down with cysts shortly after being caught using PED. I'm no doctor but it seems like this could be linked...
Any doctors know about this?

'The Air I Breathe'

Anyone see it?
I thought the movie was fantastic.
It got terrible reviews (14/100 on Rottentomatoes.com) which kind of puzzled me.

You have to buy the whole Gameplan package. Since its so late in the season, I would guess it would be aroun $40-50. You can find out on espn.com or directtv.com

According to this schedule posted on ESPN, the game is on GAMPLAN. I know that its blacked out in LA so people have to order Tigervision. I'm just trying to find out what D-TV channel is showing it outside of LA.

Class of 2005 College of Engineering
My freshman year we lost to UAB and went 3-8. You could say the next 4 years were arguably the best 4 years in the history of LSU football.

These are all the typical answers and none are really wrong. But 2 that stick out in my mind that ppl don't remember. 2000 Tennessee game, and 2000 Miss.ST games both were won in OT.
Agreed. Those were intense back-and-forth games. I was in the student section and remember not being able to hear myself screaming. Then we rushed the field! What good memories!
Also, the 'Hester' UF game last year was just as loud.
Kudos TD for Chris Warner Articles
