Any time! Were you expecting applause?

This is such a garbage place to visit now. What happened? You win I'm sorry I bothered.
Never forget the true hero of 1989-1990. Not Shaq. Not Chris Jackson. Or even Ben McDonald.

Geert.

Geert Hammink owned the campus.

[ignore one-eyed Dick Vitale fake-staring at you behind that ticket - that's a whole other story]

Leo Cat, is that you???

Not sure who that is so probably not. I do remember going on a recruiting visit to Auburn a few months after this back when they needed to replace another fatass first-baseman who could also hit anything.

Frank Thomas senior year game ball. Same box. Sharpie. :(
Short and fat. In 1990 that didn't matter for baseball. I still ended up with three rings - that night being a big reason - also in the box!.

How about you?
I just found a box in storage that hasn't been opened since 1990-ish????

First: big props to mom for the epic 35mm disposable camera shot.

Second: who is that standing behind me towering over an already 8ft-tall Ben McDonald? I think they were playing St. John that night? There may be other clues in the box - it's full of other fun stuff.

I shagged two foul balls he pitched that night and he signed them both. There was one left in the box. I think I gave the other away in the months after? I'd completely forgotten about all of this until a few hours ago.

Pro tip: don't ever sign a baseball card with a ballpoint pen or a real baseball with a Sharpie. 15yo me didn't know these things 35 years ago - if I post more from the box you will feel my pain.
