Players like him are why It's better to use the portal in general instead of paying guys who never produced at the college level.

I believe Nick Saban said basically the same thing. . . He wouldn’t pay a high school player coming into college the big bucks they wanted. Hindsight says he was correct.
To all those who voted for South Carolina as having the most passionate and/or die-hard fans. . . we say, “thank you.”

When you visit Williams-Brice stadium, may your tailgating be enjoyable, your food delectable, and your fandom experience satisfactory – except on the football field! Once in awhile, let us win a game!!!

Elko bet on Reed, but Reed ain't it, but unfortunately he's all we have for this year. Hope the OC can figure a way to scheme around Reeds limitations.

Many Gamecocks feel the same way about Beamer/Sellers(QB). Both Reed and Sellers have regressed and both coaches are “all in” on them. Your observation about figuring out a way to scheme around their shortcomings is spot on.

Is Indiana a coach killing job?

It was until they found the right coach who overcame all the previous history and lack of football tradition. Proves it can happen, especially in the NIL and portal era.

Did former OC Mike Shula leave South Carolina on good terms ?

Funny man. When your team needs a new HC, you can beat that drum for Shula.

Dude... even you know style points matter

He didn’t try to run the score up for style points. He was mad that Kansas used a controversial piece of history on 9/11 for a football game. He actually wanted to embarrass Kansas for their lack of sensitivity.

I totally get what he’s saying and agree. Good for him for having the fortitude to say what he did. Kansas should be embarrassed.
And I bet they were saying . . . :geauxtigers:

:nana:

THANK YOU, LSU!

I do agree though LSU made them look like a peewee football team.

A thing of beauty!

Classy post. :usa:

The notion that the SEC has some smoking gun they are saving for later is hilarious to me.

And yet, what other explanation is there for this display of sanctimonious discipline?

It can’t be Sankey vs Kiffin. This action involves university administrators, and they seem to be at the forefront of this circus.

So, what has LSU done to deserve the attention of all the universities? I realize all the universities voted to exclude NFL (and WNBA/NBA) players but LSU hasn’t added any to my knowledge.

Also, there’s been a vague charge of “lack of institutional control” which purports that politicians have too much control. However, that could be said of many public universities.

Help me out. I just don’t get it. There has to be something else behind all this expulsion talk.

Would you trade Notre Dame for LSU?

Absolutely not.

And what makes you think ND would want to play a hard schedule? Every year.

LSU is an SEC tradition and fixture. Even in their lean years, they played in the toughest conference while ND played a soft schedule, choosing when and where to add “significant” games. ND is irrelevant.

South Carolina is really challenging itself the first two weeks.

And LSU is terrified at playing Louisiana Tech and . . . wait for it. . . McNeese (high school?).

At least LSU plays Clemson every 10 years or so while USC has them on their schedule every year. Even when Klempson was good.
quote:

Do South Carolina fans hate LSU?

Nope. Only when the Gamecocks play LSU. We are hoping LSU puts a beat down on Clemson that ruins their whole season! Go LSU!!

:gococks:

Dude tried to weasel into a loophole and get nfl players to sue to play, they’re having to fix it and you want people to thank him?

Not to belabor the point but someone was going to try recruiting NFL players at some point. Kiffin just happened to be the first. He forced the conferences/universities to finally take a stand against it—so, yes, you can thank him.

The conferences/universities could have made the ruling much sooner but were probably just waiting so it could all play out.
Actually, Ryan Clark, you can thank Lane Kiffin for “bailing out the NCAA” since he initiated the whole issue whereby the conferences/universities HAD to do something.

And, no, I’m not an LSU fan nor Kiffin fan. Just being realistic and honest.
LSU isn’t stupid. And, two “alumni” said it . . . it will take a lot more than that to convince anyone it’s true but, hey, good try at trolling.

Now, let’s play football! Go LSU! Beat Klempson!!

:gococks:

Did you know Kiffin complained about the unfairness to him and LSU in general? That is like he really wanted this to be allowed.

I don’t disagree. He probably hoped he could gain an edge. But that doesn’t negate the fact he unintentionally pushed the issue to the forefront. Wouldn’t you agree?
quote:

Ahhhh the ole 3D Chess defense.

I don’t pretend to defend Kiffin. However, I’m also looking at the reality of college football as it stands and realizing the sooner these issues are met, the sooner we’ll get rules in place.

Kiffin, being true to his personality, simply backed the universities into making a decision they should have made long ago.
quote:

I’ve been trying to explain this to everybody all day today, this is how The man operates. You should be thanking him.

I wouldn’t go that far (thanking him) but sooner or later, someone would have tried it. Unfortunately, Kiffin seems to be close by whenever there is a firestorm. Will his reputation for bending the rules follow him? Probably. But in this case, he possible did everyone a favor.
No, not with altruistic motives but Kiffin DID force the conferences to lay down the rules. So, in a sense, he helped college football by backing the universities into making a decision.

The question becomes, “Why didn’t the conferences/presidents/ADs do this sooner?” It’s not like they live in a vacuum. They knew the potential for NFL players to return to college sports was there.
