Mondo Duplantis — Greatest LSU athlete of all time?
Posted by MondoDuplantisFan69 on 1/14/26 at 10:02 pm
This is something that LSU fans don’t like talking about, because it doesn’t involve football, tailgates, or arguing about recruiting stars:
The most dominant athlete LSU has ever produced didn’t wear pads, didn’t dunk, and didn’t do gymnastics.
It’s Mondo Duplantis — and it’s honestly not even close.
Every other LSU sport gets celebrated for moments. Big seasons. Big games. Big personalities.
Mondo just casually keeps resetting the physical limits of the human race, and we shrug because it happens on a track instead of on primetime.
Every world record Mondo Duplantis has broken:
Indoor
• Feb 8, 2020 – 6.17
• Feb 15, 2020 – 6.18
• Mar 7, 2022 – 6.19
• Mar 20, 2022 – 6.20
• Feb 25, 2023 – 6.22
• Feb 28, 2025 – 6.27
Outdoor
• Sept 17, 2020 – 6.15
• May 23, 2021 – 6.16
• June 24, 2022 – 6.20
• July 24, 2022 – 6.21
• Sept 17, 2023 – 6.23
• Apr 20, 2024 – 6.24
• June 15, 2025 – 6.28
• Summer 2025 – 6.29
• Sept 15, 2025 – 6.30
That’s 14 world records.
Not LSU records.
Not NCAA records.
World records.
Joe Burrow gave LSU the greatest football season of all time. No argument.
Shaq was a once-in-a-generation freak.
Leonard Fournette ran through SEC defenses like they personally offended him.
Angel Reese wins and lets you know about it.
And yes — Livvy Dunn is hot.
All of them are LSU legends.
But none of them are actively changing what humans are physically capable of in real time.
Mondo doesn’t have a “best season.”
He has a long-term habit of breaking his own world record just to make sure nobody else ever gets close.
Football dominance lasts a season.
Basketball dominance lasts an era.
Being hot lasts as long as the internet decides.
World records last forever.
You can argue favorite LSU athlete all you want.
But if we’re talking greatest?
The answer is Mondo.
