I remember reading a scholarly piece about 40 years ago, which detailed how women look and reflect back upon life as more of a long, intertwining thread. But men look back on life and discern it as individual incidents.
(Clipped only for brevity in the response)

That was great, Aeolian Vocalion. Thanks for that response; it is a lot to consider.

Rockford is the GOAT private eye show

Columbo (you've never seen it????) is the GOAT detective show

these are the two must-watches

They are going on my must watch list then. I'm glad I started this thread. I may not have ever known about these shows and others that posters have suggested.

Calling out your dumb posts for being nothing more than whiny bullshite isn't being angry it's just stating facts. You sounding like Nick Fuentes might be the problem here..

You seem unable to talk about anything rationally and rely on emotion and used fantasized slights to focus your angst.

You seem to imagine attacking those who wish to discuss a topic you don't see the same way as them is your only recourse.

Case in point, in your mind, I'm just like Nick Fuentes, Hitler, or maybe a Klanner for reasonably discussing the easily discernible blueprint given to the great majority of white actors in modern television series.

You seem kind of silly.
quote:

also, in the '70s you had Columbo, Kojak, Rockford, Baretta etc...

I'll have to check those out. I've seen Cannon, Barnaby Jones, and Mannix from the '70's.
quote:

Yes that's called character development about how a terrible person has the capacity to make a turn and become a good person

I'd think a bible thumper like you would understand that

I've never been to a church; why have you now switched to bashing religious people? I can't make any sense out that tactic switch.

You seem, generally, to be unhappy and angry from what I've seen in your responses so far.
quote:

Yeah God forbid a character has development like Jessie Pinkman

No let's just have every white male have the some cookie cutter characterization where he has no flaws and is "real man"

Glorifying drugs, death, murder, addiction, helplessness, and destruction of lives as a meth cook is far from cookie cutter, right?

The Pink Man developed a conscious, almost like a real human, as the show went on and for that we should all applaud? Hey look, I'm a great person and am actually the moral compass of the series but, yeah, I still like to give the meth to the children and stuff.

First two episodes of the Pendragon Cycle from Daily Wire are available, if you're looking for an awesome show without woke stupidity and with strong white men (and women) represented. The rest will release in late January.

Thanks, imjustafatkid, I'll check it out.

Don't expect honesty from that group. They are invested in their lies.

I believe you are right. Some people in this thread seem to have hate in their hearts.
quote:

Pretty much this, just another whiny thread about how every role isn't dominated by white dudes or that the white guys aren't the same formulaic 50s characters they idolize

Or just the opposite of what your hate-filled mind has concocted and is a thread asking why all white male characters are expressly made to seem as if they are stupid buffoons, waffling weaklings, mincing weenies, or sadistic, heartless killers, etc...

Why are they always set up to be the punchline or made to seem evil, conniving, and heartless or soulless, brainless, inept, or just big goofballs that every other character shows contempt for in their reactions to the white characters?

If it will help you relate to my concerns, imagine I'm a black person in the 1920-50's asking a question about why all the black characters they see have all the same characteristics I have rightly attributed to modern day white characters.

Image how that would make a black person feel back then? Can you empathize now; does that scenario break through the racial discrimination that you seemingly hold dear?
quote:

All these shows have strong white male characters who don't fit your asinine narrative

I was going to go through the list you presented one by one with refutations but, I decided to stop at Breaking Bad as I imagine you are just ridiculing white men.

As if a couple of meth cookers represent virtuous masculinity and strong white male characters.

I'm sure someone with your harmful ideals would imagine that degenerates whose characters glorified addiction, death, easy money, riches, and a super intelligent, lung cancer ridden chemistry savant who was selflessly hoarding money for his family before his impending death was great.

There was no concern for the millions and millions of kids who likely tried meth to see what the fantastic drug that their television idols were cooking up in the old trailer was like.

Role models, definitely.

That is quite the (non) intellectual leap you made there.
Do you always try to win arguments by telling the other person what he/she thinks?
You might want to stick to the kiddie pool.

I'll just reply with your statement that I was responding to and ask you to tell me what else I was to conclude from your response.

Wow it’s almost like these shows, which are 70 even nearly 80 years ago, didn’t do a good job of predicting how the country would change over decades and decades.

Didn't you mean that our society/country has changed so the television shows have simply changed with the times to properly reflect things how they truly are now?

Wow it’s almost like these shows, which are 70 even nearly 80 years ago, didn’t do a good job of predicting how the country would change over decades and decades. I wonder if, had tv shows existed in say 1300, that the portrayals of women would be different than now?

So you believe that the country has just changed and the people in it have assumed different roles.

You think that, in real life, white men are dullards, scheming, trash, stupid, inferior to every other nationality, subservient to other races of men, subservient to all women, perverted, clueless, ignorant, clowns and basically the bane of all other humans to currently exist.

It's not just television, it's how society in the real world actually is now and television is just reflecting that reality?

I hope you'll come participate in The TV Western Thread.

Feel free to review any episodes you've seen or comment on any shows or the genre in general.

Thanks, Kafka, I'll do that.

Another thing to remember: Indians aren't always Indians in westerns. Sometimes they're black.

Right, but most of the time they were white. Just about all the leading roles for Indians, the ones who had speaking roles, were white men in Indian face.

Seriously though, I understand what you mean about the Indians being used as interchanges to tell the black story.

Minorities and women getting prominent roles doesn't take away from white dudes, Jesus Christ

You aren't making very much logical sense. Your first response was that different types of people have now replaced strong white men in television roles, what's the big deal?

Your second response was that minorities and women getting good roles doesn't take away from white men.

Yet, that is the whole point of the thread. White men are now regulated to being almost literally clowns and caricatures of human beings in television shows.

You seem like an emotional person and this topic may not be for you because you don't seem like you are being very honest.

quote:

You mean when movies and television actually started to incorporate different people and started to put them in prominent roles that used to be reserved for white dudes? Yes how awful Hollywood main roles aren't 100% white dudes anymore damn those other races and women

You are of the opinion that when other races were introduced to television scheduling it had to be at the expense of white men and women.

So, basically, revenge is your answer.

Thanks for responding.
I've recently introduced myself to old television western series.

Here are some of the ones I've been watching, binge watching really.

Gunsmoke
Wagon Train
Laramie
Wanted Dead or Alive
Lawman
Colt 45
Rawhide
Have Gun / Will Travel
Cheyenne
Maverick
The Rifleman
High Chaparral
The Virginian
The Big Valley
Trackdown
The Rebel

In these shows, the white men in them aren't cucked, crooked, weak, shameless, criminal, evil, dangerous, subservient, stupid beyond belief, ugly, nasty, odd, awkward, clumsy, inept, embarrassing, immoral, vicious, submissive, or just complete dullards as they are portrayed in the great majority of modern television shows currently.

Does anyone have any ideas about whey such a seismic shift in the depictions of white men has occurred over the period of time since these shows were airing and now?

I wasn't alive when these Westerns were airing and haven't ever seen white men shown in a good light in the television shows I grew up watching.

It's like entering a different world. I tell my wife constantly, hey, come look at this scene or that scene where a white man isn't portrayed as being literally retarded or, to the contrary, as having high moral values and common sense.
I don't care for Georgia, at all, but I have to admit that Smart's end zone speech to his team this year was the best I've heard from a head coach in quite a bit.

Kirby Smart said:

quote:

Do you see that end zone? An end zone represents life and happiness. I want you to imagine yourself living in that end zone and raising a family, being a man, taking care of your responsibilities, and achieving your dreams right there in that end zone.

The end zones, no matter where we play or who we play, belong to the University of Georgia and to you. It's yours if you want it. It doesn't need you but, you need it. I want you to think of life as an end zone and beat the shite out that end zone at every opportunity.

Make that end zone yours.

This is the best post I've ever read on this whole site and I've been here almost an entire month.

Bama fans are so dumb.

That's your opinion. You keep your opinions, I suppose, and I'll keep posting facts like this:

That's a lot of potatoes.
quote:

Top Potato-Producing States (by Volume)
Idaho: The undisputed leader, growing nearly a third of all U.S. potatoes.
Washington: A close second, often rivaling Idaho in production.
Wisconsin: A significant producer, especially in the Midwest.
Oregon: A major Pacific Northwest supplier.
North Dakota: A key Great Plains producer.
Colorado: Known for high-altitude potato farms.
Minnesota: Another substantial Midwest grower.
Michigan: A large producer in the Great Lakes region.
California: Supplies potatoes with its diverse climates.
Maine: A historic and significant producer in the Northeast.

You can post all the fancy stats you wish; it doesn't change the fact that Indiana is best known for potatoes.

In fact, they worship the potato as a type of deity in many areas of Indiana. Here are some secret photos taken at the Medaryville, Indiana, potato-fest just last year.

LAST YEAR!
