Heupel is a non-celebrity status Kiffin. Look at his offenses.

Sumrall was in consideration before the newly hired president and AD, he doesn't have the coaching experience quite yet.

Nick Saban brushed off the offer kindly, the ship hasn't sailed just yet as conversations are still being had but aren't very confident in him returning.

No offers just yet for Kiffin, just some feelers, waiting for Ole Miss outcome as he is fully dedicated to this season.

Scratch off Urban Meyer and Sumrall.

New names being brought up:

-Heupel is being talked about a lot, according to my source, they think he would do incredible things based off his resume and recent success and likely the top guy if Kiffin turns down.

-Drinkwitz, according to my source they believe he would be a solid hire if other options don't pan out. He would most likely accept offer, regardless of money being it would be a huge upgrade coming to LSU

-Lebby, they like how he is starting to make the turn with Mississippi state but would be cheap option high risk

-Hartline, the only name being brought up that they are willing to take a chance on. Baker doesn't have any intentions on being a HC just yet but also hasn't had any offers yet and loves being at LSU. This would allow him to fully lockdown defense and have offensive minded coach to take the reigns.

My source is more than just a custodian. He is also on the sidelines every home game. Woodward doesn't have the say so in the hire, he is pretty much in time out right now. The candidates are being chosen by current staff, alumni, and a few boosters that are willing to donate for the right one.

You would be surprised how many think he would come here and compete year one.

Me personally, I think if we can't land Kiffin then Sumrall would be my pick. I doubt Saban will get back into coaching. I'm iffy on Meyer too.

Long time lurker on TD, but seeing all these posts about "inside sources" and some names that are just ridiculous to throw around like Gruden and Brady, I finally decided I couldn't take it no more and created an account just to post what I know. Y'all can hate on me all you want, but I have a source that actually personally knows a few on staff. it's not 100%, but Saban is first choice, should be giving phone call soon if not by end of week. "Make him say no" 15 mil a year is not out of question. Urban Meyer is also on the list. Don't be surprised if you see any smoke about it. Lane Kiffin, who I believe would be scary at LSU if giving the right resources, would be 3rd option and probably best option due to fit and modern offense. And finally, Sumrall is the last option, only because of stability being he will be in it for the long haul and will likely flourish with the right supporting cast, feelers are out on him because he understands he must keep certain staff and is willing to work with current staff to keep from things falling apart, and he will also be the cheapest option on a 4 year deal... Don't shoot the messenger, but that is word on the street and my sawces are in direct contact with members on staff on a weekly basis.

FWIW, Frank Wilson has vouched for a name I believe Tiger Rant will truly be happy with. Scratch off Brady, Gruden, Ed O, Golesh, Heupel, Key, & Sheppard. They aren't on the list.
