Long time lurker. I admire her for her strength and courage.

Jesus did say "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
Jesus did have a forgiving attitude. The Father didn't forgive them at that moment.

Jesus had the power to forgive sins while on earth. Peter' preached to the very individuals that had crucified Christ on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2.

"Ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain." Verse 23

He accuses them again of crucifying Christ in verse 36

When they heard this they were pricked in their heart. Verse 37
PRICKED is a strong word signifying their guilt. "to pain the mind sharply, agitate it vehemently.."

Their response was after being convicted by Peter's sermon was "what must we do?" They were still guilty of the blood of the Lord.

"Then Peter said unto them, REPENT and be baptized every one of you in the.name of Jesus Christ for the REMISSION OF SINS...." Verse 38

Obviously, they were still guilty of murder and stood condemned. Peter didn't say that I forgive you and God had forgiven them.

Take heed to yourselves: If a brother trespass (sin) against thee, REBUKE him; and IF HE REPENT forgive him. Luke 17:3

If a brother needs to repent for forgiveness, I cannot forgive an unrepentant murderer. You don't just forgive a brother. You have an obligation to rebuke him or point out his sin. Then if he repents forgive him.

To sum it up, God isn't going to ask you to do something he isn't willing to do. Forgiving someone that God hasn't forgiven certainly doesn't make you more righteous than God. It's misplaced forgiveness.
