re: Gambling & CFB

Sports being directly affiliated with gambling is hypocrisy - embracing the revenue it generates and promoting the heck out of fan dual and draft kings and others (often right in the Stadiums and certainly on the broadcasts), while telling players it is off limits. All while legalizing it nearly everywhere, putting access on phones, and allowing prop bets that are easily manipulated. This is a very slippery slope. It's happening at all levels. NBA (Jontay Porter, Chauncy Billups, others), MLB (couple of Cleveland pitchers), College athletes (IA State, UNO, others) have all had issues just in the past couple years. I'm not on some moral high horse, I couldn't care less if someone wants to flush their money down the drain or get mixed up with people who might end them - that's their choice. But when it is directly affecting the outcome and integrity of the game it becomes alarming to those of us that watch these sports because, well, we like these sports (not just for a gambling fix) - they really need to find a way to keep a barrier and distance between gambling and the athletes.
The cynic in me suspects he used his own daughter as a shield knowing he had to walk past those same fans that he was hyping up at the end of the first half. (I really hope that is not the case, but it did cross my mind).

Will Rogers never met Barry Switzer

Have you seen NW's facilities?

Not really - but I don't doubt it as NW is an exceptional institution on almost all levels. The new stadium renderings do look pretty sweet for a college stadium (albeit a small one). My comment was more about Chicago in general - I know companies, mine included, that have pulled out of the Chicago market because it is just so expensive to build and maintain anything there.

I'm not surprised it has a high cost relative to similar projects. The cost to build anything substantial in Chicago is generally 2-3x what it would cost elsewhere - so many entities there with their hands out. Even so, it is still surprising that it would be the most expensive given its smaller scale.

An 8 point possession was pretty funny to watch

And Mizzou stole the ball at about mid-court immediately following that and scored 2 more. 10 points scored without the ball ever going to the MN end of the floor
Looks like Drink hit that reserved parking sign a few times a well!
I hope you enjoy the trip to COMO!

Another good bar is My House (but I think cover is pretty steep on game days) - they have lots of TVs.

One of our tailgate regulars has a couple of kids that went to MSU, I'm sure they will be there and the whole crew is friendly. Most Mizzou people are very welcoming.

One other thing to note - due to the construction you have to enter the stadium on the side where your seats are located. So, check your ticket location and plan to arrive on that side or give yourself ample time to get around. It can get crowded on the narrow temporary walkway for the North side construction. The South side requires you to traverse pretty steep walkways/roads as you have to go down into the lower parking lot and back up (the stadium sits in a natural revine). This is temporary until the new North end zone is done, then there will be a nice wide open concourse to move from East to West.

If I recall, that was different - they had a McDonald's bag full of proof in that case.

I went to a game at College Station a long long long time ago. Had a Tiger tail on the rental car - and got a big thumbs up from almost every passing car on the drive from Houston to College Station. The hospitality didn't end there, folks at A&M were (and still seem to be) genuinely nice friendly people. However, the hospitality did end once the game started as they beat us to a pulp - 73 to 0. Man those were dark days to be a Mizzou fan. Kyle Field looks a little different now.

I hope this holds up on Saturday... I love a good defensive football game and would rather see a score in the 20s or 10s then see 15 touchdowns. Nothing keeps you on the edge of your seat more than anticipating which side will crack.

I like how some of those have the revenue calculated to the penny, but they don't know how many units were sold.
Not really upset, I get that fans can't travel to every game. I was just adding context on the comment about the "drive to BFE" not really being any more/less than a lot of other drives when you travel in this conference.

QB2 Beau Pribula was injured against Vandy, and QB1 (redshirt junior) Sam Horn

Not that it matters... but Pribula is/was QB1 and Horn QB2 (or maybe they were 1a and 1b) as the plan was to play them both in the first game. Pribula started and played every snap, but one, in the opening game. Horn was injured on the first and only play he ran late in the first quarter. Really sucked for the kid - he's battled injuries all the way. Guess that contract with the Dodgers is a good fall back though.

You have to fly into either KC or St. Louis and then drive to BFE

There are direct flights to COMO from Dallas, Chicago and Denver if you choose to connect or happen to be from one of those locations. But those are admittedly pricey. For major airports - StL to COMO is about 1.5 hours. Houston airports to College Station, about 1.5 hours. Atlanta to Athens, GA about 1.5 hours. Atlanta to Auburn, about 1.5 hours. etc, etc. So BFE looks to be about 1.5 hours no matter where it is.

I will note that right now I-70 is a statewide construction zone stretching from StL to Columbia to KC. When done it will be 3 full lanes each direction across the whole state, and that drive will get even easier.

Can't speak too much to tailgating, but you likely have a point there as Mizzou has never had a huge reputation for that. Not sure what you are looking for in terms of "traditions" - there are plenty of traditions (and good food) at Mizzou, but sorry there are no male cheerleaders dressed like milk men.

re: Congrats Vandy..BUT....

If any MU fan was hoping for Zoller's to play they certainly wouldn't be hoping it was due to an injury to Beau - especially as severe as this injury appears to be (unless they are a sadistic SOB). That's just effed up to even suggest.

What is effed up even more.... it is pretty clear that 99 had intent to injur as there was absolutely no reason for him to roll the way he did when the play was clearly over (others were already getting up) - other than to torque whatever he had in his grasp, which was Beau's leg. Not saying this doesn't happen in the game - but this was pretty clear and caught by the camera.

I do think Mizzou fans were encouraged by Zoller's play (especially given the circumstance and lack of experience). Other than the fumble he played pretty well.

100% - That ball literally hit the wall of the stands. I know that is a bit of a narrow sideline, but it's not that narrow.

Sometimes you wonder why they bother having replay at all. And, further to that thought, why are some things reviewable and others not reviewable? If the idea is to get it right, then get it effing right.
