Debate: should LSU have a different coach for night road games
Posted by Week1NeutralSiteBK on 11/7/24 at 10:52 am
I feel like I'm geuaxing insane trying to convince myself we'll ever be anything but a 9-3 program with BK. Back when we hired pipsqueak (my family's name for BK), I had concerns that he wasn't an SEC caliber coach. After 2.5+ years, I actually think he is capable of winning the SEC, only if we hire a separate coach that handles week 1 neutral site games and road night games that kick off after 5pm local time.
I'm no statistician, but if we take a look at BK's 8 regular season losses at LSU:
1) 2022 Game 1 - Neutral Site Game vs FSU (6:30PM kick)
2) 2022 Game 6 - vs. Tennessee at Tiger Stadium (11 AM Kick -- outlier)
3) 2022 Game 12 - @ A&M (6:45PM kick)
4) 2023 Game 1 - Neutral Site Game vs FSU (6:30PM kick)
5) 2023 Game 5 - @ Ole Miss (5PM kick)
6) 2023 Game 9 - @ Alabama (6:45PM kick)
7) 2024 Game 1 - Neutral Site Game vs USC (6:30PM kick)
8) 2024 Game 8 - @ A&M (6:30PM kick)
7 of the 8 losses are at late kickoff neutral sites / road games. To be fair to pipsqueak / BK, he does have a few road wins that kicked off after 5PM local - 2022 @ a horrible Auburn, 2022 @ a pathetic Florida Gators, and this year @ Arkansas which was a good win.
Fellow tigers, i ask a) should we consider a 2 head coach strategy and b) who would be the best candidate to be the Late Game road / neutral site coach.
To get us started - a) Yes; b) Urban Meyer
