re: Screw Seniority, Play The Best Talent

Will never not agree when it comes to playing the young guys and giving them much needed reps if the potential and flashes beat out the current talent. As bad as the Bo Pelini 2020 defense was at the start of the season, it did give young guys like BJ Ojulari and Cordale Flott the opportunity to launch up to their potential on the field. Granted, that was partially due to the departure of all our guys on the 2019 team, but this team could be the same. There was a lot of good in Ashton Stamps and I think there can be a lot of good in PJ Woodland and Deshawn Spears. I'm not saying these guys are SEC Freshman of the year caliber nor will they be the next Derek Stingley, but not giving them those snaps doesn't help. Major Burns has shown who he is and it blows my MIND that the staff cannot clearly see who Sage Ryan is when we as fans have seen who he is since he showed up on campus! Major Burns got 63 snaps playing in that star roll and Ryan got 54 snaps playing with his eyes closed at corner (he isn't a corner, wasn't recruited as a corner, remind me why he is at corner). Distribute the snap count and give the freshmen something to look at on the field.
The last drive of the game shows an overarching story that may come up throughout the season but overall compared to last year it wasn't horrible. Kaleb Jackson still has time to grow, but we can definitely expect Durham to get snaps now that Emery is out. My prediction, however, is that this offensive line got bailed out by Jayden too many times to properly execute against a full force in the box. Campbell and Jones are great but this is not a top five line in college. It sure LOOKED like one when the linebackers and edges expected our quarterback to bolt for 20 yards down field when pressure came, but not when we have a pocket passer behind center and a run game that needs establishing. Lastly on my lengthy rant, why didn't Shelton Sampson get a single snap? I might have missed something if he was injured but is you're down Hilton and have a QB that needs to get the ball out quick or he'll chuck it to the second row AND loves to distribute (Taylor had 7 rec, Lacey had 7 rec and Anderson had 5 rec), then why not put our 6-4 redshirt freshman out there?
Just a thought, but what do I know? I'm no coach.
