I think you’ll see the committee adjust their early rankings prior to conference title games next year based on SOS. They’re learning with this first year and should adjust some philosophies. If they did this again, I think SMU would be below a number of SEC teams which makes it easier to keep a conference championship loser out of the playoffs. They put themselves in a corner due to where SMU was ranked prior to ACC championship game.

How big a liability is Pimpton in run blocking?

Two third down run plays were busted by Pimpton’s assignment. First quarter and a key third and 1 in the fourth that caused a three and out. Never would have thought I’d say Markway was a big loss… but he would have been a physical presence. Pimpton gave the USC defense energy being manhandled by their D ends.

Agreed, his confidence dropped off quickly, clock sped up and went to sub par options and threw duds….. he didn’t even get knocked down. Conversely, Miller Moss got hit hard early in the game and came back strong. Coaches could have helped but it’s part of live game reps I hope will improve, otherwise it’s the recipe against us.
