You're using the Saban tree as proof of coordinator autonomy? Saban's coordinators ran his defense, he coached the DBs himself, and he used to rip into Kirby on the sideline all the time. That's not exactly a hands-off guy.

Kirby's the same way. He was a DC, and he's all over that Georgia defense. That's fine, but it means whoever's DC there isn't the boss of that side of the ball.

At Texas, Sark calls the offense and Muschamp gets the whole defense to himself. That's a way better gig.

Also, he literally just left Georgia to come here. Why would he turn around and go back to the job he just left?

The mrs. likes Austin more, he gets control of his entire unit without any coach interference, has a larger wallet to recruit with and will get paid more.

I think it would be the 1 job he leaves Bama for (maybe Oregon). Less expectations, and I think his style of football fits there more.

That being said, when teams fire coaches they tend to do a 180 in the style of coach they hire next. Since Lincoln is a offense guy, my guess is they would look for a defensive guy.

Exactly my initial point about "the smooth brains not being able to critically think".

Texas played tOSU and Tenn

OU played Michigan and Georgia.

While Georgia is on par with tOSU, Michigan (losses to Western Michigan and Iowa) is not close to Tenn.

There is a pretty large gap in difficulty in those 4 opponents, plus 2 of Mateers 3 turnovers against Georgia aren't included in said "stats".

Point being while they might be ranked close in SOS on paper, theirs a large gap in the real world. :lol:
