You've got 10 P4 teams in. Another 2 will just lose like Tulane and JMU.
The viewership numbers will reflect the committees mistake, but who knows if they change things in the future.

I hope Tulane and JMU get their doors blown off to show the committee such DEI idiocy isn't the best policy.
Maybe do some sort of European soccer type thing with tiers when it comes to playoffs? I don't watch soccer so don't know how that works, but the big boys all play each other while the lower quality teams do the same.

Will Arch enter the portal before or after the game?
Of course he sucks and ya'll don't want him, but he's at least better than your current backup. Arch has always dreamed of being backup QB at Pyle field, so enjoy!

It will be our non-opt outs and returning players vs their same.
If we played Michigan during the regular season I think we crush them, but backups vs backups (who will play most of the game) is a total crapshoot. If Michigan has more players forego the draft to make a run next year we may be in trouble, but in reality..who knows?

If you believe BYU played a tougher schedule than Oklahoma, Georgia, Tennessee, and Missouri… Well, then bless your heart I guess.
Whats tougher than that?

Forgot about Miami, but yeah...along with the 2 DEI additions thats 3 that shouldn't be in over Texas. We're being punished for making the football experts who pumped us preseason look like fools.

So you think Texas with it's 9-3 record should be in above Alabama with it's 10-3 record?
Of course now we know the playoffs aren't about putting the best teams in the country head to head so it doesn't matter.
We still have tOSU next year and Michigan the year after, but beyond that we need to schedule weaker P4 programs (the ones that sound good on paper, yet in reality don't match up well with us) as our marquee out of conference game to start the season.
UCLA Bruins? Come on down!
Washington State Cougars? Come on down!
North Carolina? Welcome Bill Belicheck to Austin!

Duly noted, SOS makes no diff at all when it comes to getting in the playoffs, it's about W/L record or being Bama.
Edit- or being a DEI program like James Madison or Tulane and being a big fish in a small pond.

Rudy was a so so movie, and even my grandparents don't remember the 4 horsemen, the Gipper or any other bullshite Domer fairy tales.
It's time to start treating ND like any other CFB program instead of some sort of royalty. I mean, the playoff committee leaving them out is a good start, but this isn't the norm.

Does anyone truly think James Madison or Tulane could beat Texas? Not hope they do...but actually put real money on them doing it.
Keep in mind we already beat two higher ranked playoff teams head to head by multiple scores.
The DEI playoffs are about making sure everyone gets to participate. Texas made all the media outlets/football experts look like fools simply because they ranked us #1 and hyped up Arch like a multiple Superbowl winning QB, now we're being punished for exposing them as hacks that guess about everything just like the rest of us.
Edit- As it is I'll just eat my f'kn box of cheese it's and like it. If this were a regular season game we would crush Meatchicken, but with players opting out for both teams, who knows?
The meat of our above average defense will be missing for sure, so it just depends on who's playing for Michigan's offense. That's what it comes down to for me, Arch and next years starters may only get a quarter of play no matter what...don't want to start the off-season with starters rehabbing.

This year will be known as the first years of the diversity, equity and inclusion CFB playoffs.
It's all about automatic bids and W/L record above all else, not putting the best 12 teams head to head.

re: Texas and Oklahoma, any regrets?

Not speaking for Mobilehoma, but no regrets here.
I'd seriously rather sit out the playoffs and go to a shite tier bowl than be stuck in the Big 12 visiting Midwest wasteland cities every other year.
To be fair they now have Boulder Colorado, Provo Utah and Tempe Arizona which are better road trips than anything SEC, but still not enough to make me want to go back.

re: Texas fans. Just so you know. If you didn’t follow Aggies to the SEC…
Posted by 49 to nada on 12/6/25 at 3:47 pm to BigSneezy
You still havent come to grips with the fact the aggy invitation came at a time when the Big 12 was at a live or die crossroads, and the SEC thought inviting the agricultural offshoot of the Flagship University would be enough to attract the real Prize, the University of Texas..and that in turn would draw in OU as well.
The plan worked of course, but it took 11 years for the LHN money to dry up first. This was the SEC's plan all along..they tried to get us when the SWC imploded in the early 90's as well.
Your revisionist history no longer works on SEC people who don't know any better, daddy's here to dispel delusional fairy tales,.lolz

ND was 11-1. Bama is 10-2.

quote:So you admit the playoffs aren't about getting the best teams in the nation to face off with each other, but rather the best teams at the top and rest of the field is filled in with arbitrary decisions by the committee mostly based on W/L and not much else?
No Texas does not deserve a spot in the playoffs. Yes they are a better team than Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Texas knew how the playoffs worked. They lost to Florida at Florida, even though they smoked the Sooners and Aggies. They can sit out these playoffs and watch the two teams they beat down play. This will be good for Texas and it should burn deep in their minds and hearts. Maybe next season they will realize they are nothing special and have to step up and play every game like it matters, because it does.
To be clear, I think 12 teams is already 4 too many, and by that criteria this years Longhorns team isn't playoff worthy. But the fact is the playoffs are expanded to 12, and you would hope with that many even the 4 beyond the 8 teams that deserve to be in would at least be competitive?
We're going to have some boring blowouts in this year's playoffs, and that's because some teams will get in without being truly tested all year long. Hell, I think Tortilla Tech may have the best team in their history this year, but that view could be distorted by the fact they haven't really faced much resistance up until this point. They may be kings of the Big12, but in reality no better than a mid pack SEC team.

quote:Yet Bama getting beaten by a 5-7 FSU (that got destroyed by that 4-8 UF) doesn't seem to hurt their chances of getting in the playoffs even if Georgia beats them in the CCG.
But you aren’t, because you lost to 4-8 UF.
See how that logic can work both ways? That Florida loss wouldn't mean jack diddly shite if we had instead chosen a weak P4 team to start the season instead of the real #1 team.

Lost to Florida.
Back to back overtime squeakers against Mississippi State and Kentucky.
Got blown out by Georgia.
Otherwise there are teams in the playoffs who shouldn't be going by your criteria, right?
